In this role, you will design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure backend systems. With 8 to 11 years of experience, you will play a key role in driving architectural decisions, mentoring junior developers, and leading the migration and integration of services within cloud environments.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & DevelopmentDesign and develop robust, scalable, and maintainable backend microservices using Java (version 11 or higher) and the Spring Boot framework.Architect and implement secure REST APIs to support seamless integration with front-end applications and external third-party services.Optimize application performance, ensuring low latency, high availability, and efficient resource utilization.Cloud & InfrastructureDeploy and manage cloud-native applications natively on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Utilize GCP services such as GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage for building distributed systems.Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring processes.Collaboration & LeadershipCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, product managers, and QA, to deliver high-quality software features.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to mid-level and junior developers through code reviews and design sessions.Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex production issues in a timely manner.Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical ExcellenceJava Mastery: 8–11 years of professional experience in backend development using Java and Spring Boot.API Design: Proven expertise in building, securing (OAuth2, JWT), and documenting REST APIs.Cloud Proficiency: Deep, hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) core services and cloud-native architecture.Database Systems: Strong proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL solutions.Containerization: Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.Testing: Commitment to writing clean code validated by comprehensive unit and integration tests (JUnit, Mockito).Soft Skills & LocationCommunication: Exceptional verbal and presentation skills to effectively explain complex technical concepts.Problem Solving: Strong analytical mindset with a track record of solving complex engineering challenges.Location Requirement: Must be located in or willing to reliably commute/relocate to Columbus, OH for daily onsite work.Preferred QualificationsExperience with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Apache Kafka or GCP Pub/Sub.
