Community Associations Associate Attorney – Virginia Bar requiredRees Broome, PC, a Top 20 law firm in Virginia, is recruiting for an associate with 2-4 years of general collections experience to assist our community association and HOA clients in our Community Association practice group. Candidates must be licensed in Virginia.Our ideal candidate will have 2-4 years’ experience practicing general collections work for banks or other creditors, exceptional research and communication skills, a strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously and excellent academic credentials. Responsibilities:Independently manage a caseload of 250-400 active collection cases from initial intake to closing of filesWork closely with paralegals, administrative assistants and Shareholders on collection case loadReview and interpret client documents and draft legal opinions for Shareholder reviewRegularly handle court appearances in multiple jurisdictions and handle abatement court cases for enforcement of covenantsRoutinely communicate with community association clients and their management agents and provide routine status reportsManage billing of hourly time and via task codes for fixed fee collections workRoutinely attend on-site meetings at client community associations to oversee elections and Board meetingsQualifications:JD from an accredited law schoolAdmitted to practice in Virginia2-4 years’ experience in collectionsExperience with collections, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act compliance, district court, and post-judgment enforcementStrong analytical skills.Strong written and oral communication skillsLegal project management experience is helpfulPrior experience managing paralegals and other staffThe position is available immediately.
