Teen Services Manager

TITLE: Teen Services Manager PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Specialist DEPARTMENT: Teen Services Department REPORTS TO: Senior Teen Services Director FLSA STATUS: Full-time, Exempt SALARY: $45,000 starting PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Teen Services Manager is in charge of creating curriculum for two teen programs: Training Teens for Tomorrow (T3) and Be Great By 8th (GB8), along with related activities leading to the priority outcomes of Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. The Teen Services Manager also tracks and reports all program data. Beyond program management, the manager coordinates internal and external internship opportunities for teens enrolled in T3 and provides leadership and supervision to program staff and volunteers associated with Oregon Youth Corps (OYC). Note: this position is grant-funded, with annual renewal contingent on ongoing grant funding. Due to the COVID pandemic and adherence to state guidelines, remote work may be required to ensure the safety of staff, members, and the community. KEY ROLES: Prepare Youth for Success Implement programs, services, and activities to prepare youth for success while prioritizing the safety of members and maintaining program quality. Offer guidance and positive role modeling to high school aged members through case management. Monitor and evaluate program achievements against set goals, suggest modifications based on member needs, interests, and actively participate in weekly staff meetings to contribute to quality improvement efforts. Connect program members and their families to internal and external resources and services as needed. Health and Safety Create a safe and inclusive environment for all program members, prioritizing their safety and maintaining program quality at all times. Collaborate with Teen Services staff to ensure a productive, respectful, inclusive, and safe work environment. Program Development and Implementation Develop age-appropriate curriculum, incorporating BGCA curriculum, for high school and middle school program members. Incorporate technology-based educational tools and resources to enhance program engagement and academic success. Utilize creative platforms to expose participants to a wide range of career options beyond the traditional college pathway. Frequently collaborate with the Teen Services Specialist and Teen Coordinators to exchange program feedback, making necessary adjustments as needed. Support Senior Teen Services Director as needed in maintaining partnership with business and community partners as it pertains to teen programs and internships. Work closely with internship host sites to ensure effective mentorship and skill development for teen interns in the workplace. Supervision Recruit and train OYC Crew Leaders and interns. Provide direct supervision and support to OYC Crew Leaders and interns. Identify and support development opportunities for Crew Leaders. Provide indirect supervision and support to Healthy Habit interns as needed. Effectively collaborate with Teen Services Specialist on T3 and GB8 programming/facilitation. Oversee expenses related to program supplies, activities, and ensure that expenditures align with the program budget(s). ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: On occasion, the Teen Services Manager may serve as lead staff for special programs and events throughout the year. This position will be required to drive the club van and/or bus. RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Stay in regular communication with BGC staff, program members, and supervisor. This includes but not limited to exchanging information, explaining guidelines or instructions, discussing issues, and sharing/receiving constructive feedback. External: Assist the Teen Services Director as needed in maintaining communication with external community groups, schools, and parents of members. Support the organization's initiatives to engage the higher education community in teen programming through partnerships with universities, collaborations with career and trade schools, organizing college tours, and facilitating scholarship opportunities. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. Education may be substituted for work experience on a case-by-case basis. Prior experience providing case management for youth with barriers to success. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and facilitate workshops for youth grades 6-12. Ability to train, supervise, and motivate staff. Ability to speak in public, with prior experience presenting in individual and group settings. Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment. Proficient in computer use, Zoom Video Program, Microsoft Office suite applications and Google Drive. Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (within 90 days). Valid State Driver’s License. Ability to pass drug test and background checks. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Prior experience working with grant-funded programs preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to speak, hear, and maintain high mental and visual attention at all times. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, be able to stand and sit for extended periods and be able to walk moderate distances. Ability to travel between locations and attend meetings outside of regular operating hours. Ability to drive a 14 passenger bus, with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
