Senior Facilities Engineer (Manufacturing)

The Company’s primary focus is to develop distributed power generators that can operate on various fuel sources to future-proof against an ever-changing energy economy.Job PurposeThe Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring the manufacturing plant’s infrastructure, utilities, and building systems reliably support safe, efficient, and scalable production operations. This role is hands-on and plant-floor focused, directly enabling equipment uptime, production ramp, and layout changes as the facility moves from early production into steady-state manufacturing.This position works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS to ensure the plant is always production ready.Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Utilities & InfrastructureOwn the performance, capacity, spend, and reliability of plant utilities including:Electrical power distribution and machine dropsCompressed air, vacuum, and process gasesHVAC, ventilation, dust/fume extraction, and heat rejectionProcess water, chilled water, and drainageEnsure utilities meet equipment specifications and production load requirementsTroubleshoot utility-related production downtime and support root cause analysisProduction Equipment & Layout SupportSupport installation, relocation, and commissioning of production equipmentPartner with Manufacturing Engineering on:Line layouts, workstation placement, and material flowEquipment moves and line rebalancingEnsure floor space, utilities, and safety systems are in place prior to equipment arrivalProduction Ramp & Capacity GrowthPlan and execute facility upgrades required for:Production volume increasesNew product introductionsAdditional shifts or extended run timesIdentify facility constraints that could limit throughput or uptimeDevelop phased facility expansion plans aligned to the production roadmapPlant Maintenance & ReliabilityEstablish and maintain preventive maintenance programs for:Electrical infrastructureHVAC and process utilitiesBuilding systems that impact productionSupport operations and maintenance teams during outages, shutdowns, and recovery eventsDrive improvements in uptime, response time, and mean time to repair (MTTR)Oversight of facility janitorial needs and vendor partners, including facility services repairSafety, Compliance & ControlsEnsure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and local building codesManage annual Fire Drill as well as the Red Wing vouchers for safety bootsInclement weather: Manage facility safety protocols and response actions during inclement weather to protect employees, visitors, and assets (e.g., salting walkways, backup power, etc.) Maintain the OSHA Form 300 log and 300A summarySupport machine safety systems, interlocks, and emergency infrastructureChampion safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actionsEnsure facility changes follow proper change control and risk assessmentEnsure that all new hires are loaded into the Safety Skills platform and assign role-specific training coursesCapital Projects & ContractorsLead facility-related capital projects on the plant floor and partner with Manufacturing Engineering & Operations for their capital projectsDevelop scopes of work, RFQs, and installation plansManage contractors during production and shutdown windowsEnsure work is executed safely and does not disrupt manufacturing operationsDocumentation & Standard WorkMaintain up-to-date facility drawings, utility schematics, and load calculationsCreate standard work for facility response and equipment supportSupport continuous improvement efforts on the plant floorAdditional duties as needed or required. QualificationsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Qualifications include:Education, Experience and CertificationsIndustrial electrical systemsManufacturing utilities (air, water, HVAC, exhaust)Production equipment installation and supportBachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience7–10+ years supporting manufacturing plant facilitiesHands-on experience with:Experience working directly on the plant floor in an operating factoryStrong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in high-precision, low-volume or ramping production environmentsIndustry experience in electro-mechanical, power-generation, EV, aerospace, or capital equipment manufacturingFamiliarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvementExperience supporting 24/7 or multi-shift operationsCore Competencies:Plant-floor ownership mentalityBias toward action and rapid problem resolutionStrong cross-functional collaborationAbility to prioritize production needs in a dynamic environmentPractical, hands-on engineering mindsetRole Classification and Working ConditionsThis is a salaried, exempt-level position.
