We are looking for a detail-oriented HS Code & Tariff Research Expert to join our fully remote team. You will research, verify, and maintain global customs tariff, trade, and product classification data used in our SaaS platform and APIs. Your work will ensure our customers receive accurate, up-to-date import and export compliance information across multiple jurisdictions.This role is ideal for professionals with strong knowledge of the Harmonized System (HS), customs regulations, tariff schedules, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and international trade compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch and classify products using the Harmonized System (HS) and national tariff schedules.Monitor changes to customs tariffs, import duties, VAT/GST, excise taxes, and trade measures worldwide.Research and validate:Import and export regulationsProduct restrictions and licensing requirementsTechnical Barriers to Trade (TBT)Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measuresRules of OriginFree Trade Agreements (FTAs)Anti-dumping, countervailing, and safeguard dutiesExport controls and sanctionsInterpret legislation, customs notices, and government publications from official sources.Prepare structured datasets for integration into SaaS products and APIs.Work closely with engineering and AI teams to improve regulatory databases and classification accuracy.Review AI-generated classifications and regulatory outputs for quality assurance.Maintain comprehensive research documentation and update records when regulations change.Support customers by providing technical explanations on tariff and customs requirements when required.QualificationsBachelor's degree in International Trade, Customs, Law, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or a related field.Minimum 3 years of experience in customs compliance, tariff classification, trade consulting, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or international trade research.Strong understanding of the Harmonized System (HS), customs tariff schedules, and international trade regulations.Experience researching government legislation, customs authorities, and official regulatory publications.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail with strong documentation abilities.Advanced English reading and writing skills.Experience using Excel, databases, and research tools.Experience with SQL, APIs, AI tools, or legal/regulatory databases is an advantage.Working ConditionsFully remote position.Work with an international team across multiple time zones.Flexible working hours with outcome-based performance.Regular online meetings and collaborative planning sessions.Continuous learning opportunities in global trade compliance and AI-powered regulatory technology.
