About the Opportunity ProspectBlue is seeking a Senior Buyer for a growing manufacturing organization in the medical device space. This role is a key contributor within the Supply Chain team, responsible for driving supplier performance and ensuring the acquisition of high-quality materials at optimal cost.This is a highly visible, onsite role based in Newport News, VA, offering the opportunity to make a direct impact on operational efficiency, cost savings, and overall business growth.The Role The Senior Buyer will manage supplier relationships and procurement activities across direct materials, with a focus on cost optimization, quality, and delivery performance. This individual will work cross-functionally with internal teams while proactively identifying risks, improving processes, and supporting supply chain initiatives.Key Responsibilities• Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance across cost, quality, delivery, and service levels • Drive cost savings initiatives and improve total cost of ownership (TCO) across the supply base • Lead supplier performance reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans • Create and manage purchase orders, including scheduling adjustments and invoice reconciliation • Maintain accurate supplier and pricing data within ERP/MRP systems • Monitor supplier KPIs and develop scorecards to track performance and identify improvement opportunities • Partner with Planning and Operations to ensure alignment with production schedules and inventory needs • Proactively identify and communicate supply risks, disruptions, or material shortages • Support new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and supplier onboarding • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Operations • Lead or support supplier audits and ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulatory standardsQualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field OR 3+ years of relevant procurement experience • Experience in manufacturing or medical device environments preferred • Proven success in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and performance improvement initiativesSkills & Competencies• Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating supplier performance and identifying trends • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel (pivot tables, data analysis; Power BI a plus) • Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes • Effective communicator with strong cross-functional collaboration skills • Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and cost optimization • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentWhy This Role?• Opportunity to play a key role in optimizing supply chain performance • High visibility across multiple business functions • Growth-oriented environment with strong collaboration across teams • Direct impact on cost savings, supplier strategy, and operational success
