JOB REQUIREMENTS: Seeking students and adults with sports knowledge! TheCity of Onalaska is seeking to hire an Instructor and Traveling Coach.Under the supervision of the Recreation Manager/Coordinator, theemployee in this position is responsible for the overall direction andoversight of any portion associated with a recreation program.Independently provides direction to staff, coaches, volunteers,umpire/referees and spectators on issues relating to a program plan andprogram structure, team selection, rule interpretation, schedules,equipment needs and use, safety of participants, umpires/referees, staffand spectators. Essential Job Functions: Develops and implements basicpractice plans and/or lessons. Coaches teams in the department/in-houserecreational leagues (within community). Teaches participants theimportance of sportsmanship, cooperation, and teamwork. Teachesparticipants the basic rules and regulations of the sport (i.e.baseball, football, volleyball, basketball, etc.). Leads practices andevaluates participant\'s skill level. Develops team roles for assistantcoaches/volunteers and parents. Develops team guidelines. Distributesand collects program materials such as equipment, plans, uniforms,schedules and forms. Responsible for the program equipment and thecondition of equipment. Assists with the set-up and cleanup offacilities. Reports injuries, facility hazards, and program concerns tothe Recreation Manager or designee. Responds to accidents andemergencies in an appropriate manner; administering first aidaccordingly. Attends training and organizational meetings as requested.Maintains communication with program participants, program and officestaff. Resolves conflicts between participant parents, participants,coaches and officials/umpires. Contributes to a cooperative workingeffort by demonstrating a willingness to perform other job-related work,as needed or requested. The interdependency of operations is recognizedand the abilities and skills exist to do other work as needed orrequested. Job Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not necessary. Studentor adult with sports knowledge. Supervision and leadershipTechniques/skills Desired. Experience Playing, Coaching Or Being Part Ofa sport or program of similar nature. Must work with minimumsupervision. Compensation: Wage range for these seasonal, limited-termpositions is \$10.00 to \$13.00 per hour depending on qualifications andbudget. There are no benefits associated with limited-term positions.
