Scrum Master (SAP/HRIS)

Position Title: Scrum Master Location Information Oakland, CA, USA – Hybrid (Onsite 3 days/week) Position Responsibilities: Join an energetic and collaborative HR technology delivery team as a Scrum Master supporting programs within a SAP HR (HCM) and SuccessFactors environment. As a Scrum Master, you will play a key role facilitating Agile ceremonies, coaching the team in Scrum and Agile best practices, and driving hybrid Agile/waterfall program governance in partnership with product owners, stakeholders, and technical teams. Your ability to build trust, foster a collaborative culture, and help navigate complex dependencies will be essential to team and program success. Key responsibilities include: Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies, ensuring sessions are focused, productive, and adhere to timeboxes (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives). Coach team members and stakeholders in Agile and Scrum values and practices to drive continuous improvement and Agile maturity. Partner closely with Product Owners to maintain a prioritized backlog, refine user stories, and ensure requirements are ready for development. Manage and maintain boards, backlogs, and reporting using Jira, tracking team progress, sprint velocity, and burndown metrics. Remove obstacles and blockers impacting the delivery team, escalating and coordinating across functions as necessary. Build and nurture strong relationships across HRIS, SAP functional and technical resources, and business stakeholders. Facilitate effective coordination between Agile delivery teams and HR technology resources to align efforts and ensure program objectives are met. Monitor, analyze, and communicate key team delivery metrics (velocity, throughput, cycle time) and progress to leadership and stakeholders. Identify program-level risks, issues, and dependencies, contributing actively to mitigation and resolution efforts. Champion a transparent, collaborative, and high-performing Agile team culture. Support hybrid Agile/waterfall governance, maintaining RAID logs, adhering to stage-gate deliverables, and aligning with program increment planning. Essential Skills, Experience Minimum 5 years of experience serving as a Scrum Master, leading Agile/Scrum delivery teams in a technology-focused environment. Demonstrated knowledge of SAP HR (HCM) and/or SAP SuccessFactors modules (such as Employee Central, Payroll, LMS, Recruitment, Onboarding), with hands-on experience supporting related processes or implementations. Proficient in managing Agile sprints, backlogs, and reports within Jira; experienced with tools such as Confluence. Exceptional facilitation skills and interpersonal abilities, with a talent for building trust and relationships across functional and technical teams. Strong communicator capable of guiding teams and stakeholders through Agile transformation and adoption of best practices. Proven problem solver with the ability to proactively identify and clear impediments that impact team performance. Experienced in supporting hybrid Agile/waterfall program governance, including the use of RAID logs, RACI matrices, and stage-gate deliverables. Ability and willingness to work onsite in Oakland, CA, three days per week as part of a hybrid work schedule. Preferred Experience & Certifications: Scrum Master certification (such as CSM, PSM, SAFe SM, or similar). Background supporting HR technology, HRIS, or ERP implementation programs. Familiarity with SAP SuccessFactors, SAP S/4HANA, or large-scale SAP transformation initiatives. Experience working in SAFe or other scaled Agile frameworks. Additional certifications such as Agile Scrum Master (ASM), PMP, or equivalent, especially with SAP program experience.
