Job Title: Hospital Care Investigator Location: 506 Lenox Avenue, New York, NY 10037 Shift: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Hours: 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day) Pay Range: $27 to $31/hr Job Summary We are seeking a Hospital Care Investigator to support the Patient Accounts department at Harlem Hospital Center. This role is a key part of the revenue cycle process and focuses on billing, claims processing, account review, and patient financial services. The ideal candidate will have strong billing experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work across departments to ensure accurate and timely claim resolution. Key Responsibilities Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness Prepare, correct, and submit paper and electronic claims to payers Post all types of payments and apply necessary adjustments Process claim rejections, denials, and payer correspondence promptly Handle pre-authorizations, document responses, and follow up as required Audit accounts and update patient accounting systems accurately Generate and manage Patient Balance Aging and Insurance Aging reports Follow up with patients and insurance companies regarding outstanding balances Arrange payment plans with patients when applicable Provide billing-related customer service and document all interactions clearly Escalate complex or unresolved accounts to supervisors in a timely manner Attend required training sessions and perform other duties as assigned Required Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of medical billing and revenue cycle processes Ability to process claims, denials, and adjustments efficiently Experience with patient accounting systems and computer applications Excellent documentation, communication, and customer service skills Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments Job Type: Contract Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour Experience: Hospital Care Investigator: 2 years (Required) Work Location: In person
