Interpret specifications, working drawings and convey intent to the contractor.Responsible for all aspects of field inspection, testing, testing coordination, sampling, equipment, and equipment maintenance on assigned project.Obtain and record field data, in a legible and organized fashion; as required by the plans, specifications, or project staff. Generate and compile field reports.Maintain vehicles and equipment as required.Work with project staff on design changes.Communicate with all entities keeping everyone fully informed.Record daily installed construction quantities to review payment requests in terms of progress and amount completed to date.Understand the public health and safety requirements and be fully trained in the proper safety procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or other related field, orAssociates Degree in related field with 2+ years of experience, orHigh School diploma (or equivalent) with 5+ years related experience.Experience on MDOT or LAP projectsWorking knowledge of ProjectWise and FieldBook or AASHTOWareRequired certifications/training (or ability to obtain):MDOT Density Control TechnicianMCA/ACI Concrete Level IAggregate Sampling and/or Aggregate Level IHMA Paving OperationsConstruction Stormwater OperatorValid driver's license with satisfactory driving record, and ability to pass background check and drug testing (including marijuana)Ability to safely traverse active construction sites and comply with all safety requirementsProficient using mobile devices for documentation and communicationStrong communication skills and attention to detailWillingness to travel throughout Michigan and the tri-state area.Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points):Concrete Paving Inspector TrainingMCA Concrete Level II or ACI Strength CertificationSESC Plan Review & DesignPrevailing Wage Training10-hour OSHA or MOST Safety CertificationMunicipal inspection experience (roads and/or utility projects)Experience with AASHTOWareInvesting in Your Future:We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and career growth:Health, dental, and vision insuranceFlexible spending accounts & health savings account401(k) options (Traditional and Roth)Paid parental leaveLife & AD&D insuranceShort- and long-term disabilityWellness program with reimbursement benefitsOur Commitment to InclusionAt DLZ, diversity isn't just a policy-it's a priority.
