Structural Engineer
Description
Permanent position for a Structural Engineer responsible for the complete structural scope of industrial projects, from conceptual design through detailed engineering, producing final structural documents and procurement specifications.
Develop economical, buildable structural designs by analyzing customer specifications and site environmental loading data. Perform calculations and computer analysis using STAAD, finite element methods, and standard structural tools. Review and check output from designers, drafters, and fabrication vendors for technical accuracy. Follow designs through drafting to ensure drawings clearly and correctly convey engineering intent. Coordinate with mechanical, piping, and other disciplines to verify structural adequacy across the overall design. Contribute to new product development and devise new structural solutions for customer-specific design and construction needs. Occasional field travel for inspection of new and existing facilities, with support for sales and proposal activities.
Requirements
BS in Civil or Structural Engineering. Design and/or construction experience preferred. Working knowledge of U.S. national design codes for structural steel, loading, and welding (AISC, ASCE, AWS) preferred. Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD) and finite element analysis preferred. Willingness to assume full ownership of a project, product line, or component, balancing robust technical performance with cost competitiveness. Experience with large industrial heat-transfer or process equipment structures a plus. Pipe stress analysis experience (CAESAR II or equivalent) and ASME code knowledge a plus. Familiarity with fabrication and welding procedures, ASME/AWS codes, and nondestructive testing/inspection a plus.
