Computer Operator - Night Shift(W2Only)

Job Title: Computer Operator - Night Shift Location: Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina Position Type: Full-time Contract (12 months, potential extension up to 36 months) Shift Hours: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM (including weekends and holidays) Rate: $30/hr on W2 Overview: Clemson University is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Computer Operator to join our IT team. This position is responsible for the monitoring, testing, maintenance, and repair of network and infrastructure elements for Clemson University's Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) department. This is a hands-on, 100% onsite role that requires effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to support Clemson’s technology infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Monitor Clemson’s network, servers, mainframe, and applications. Resolve incidents, alerts, and service requests, escalating to subject matter experts as needed. Configure network and system resources, and maintain detailed documentation for operational use. Provide Tier II support as per service agreements. Perform pre-configured port activations on network switches. Prepare and update operational documentation and knowledge base resources. Engage in training and cross-training within the team. Deliver excellent customer service for all IT and telecommunication network support needs. Required Skills and Experience: IP Network Troubleshooting – Advanced experience with IP network troubleshooting; 2-4 years required. DNS Configuration – Proficient in DNS setup and troubleshooting; 2-4 years experience required. Monitoring Tools (e.g., Splunk, SolarWinds) – Experience with monitoring tools for network performance; 2-4 years required. Microsoft Office Suite – Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); 2-4 years required. Server Batch Scripting – Advanced knowledge in server batch scripting; 2-4 years required. Technical Writing – Skilled in documenting technical processes and creating operational guides; 2-4 years experience required. Networking Protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, NTP) – Knowledge of standard networking protocols; 2-4 years experience required. Preferred Skills: Leadership Skills – Ability to take initiative and lead small projects. Customer Service – Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially when handling IT support. Self-Management – Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently. Web Programming – Familiarity with web programming basics is a plus. Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Interview Process: Initial interviews will be conducted via phone or Zoom. Final rounds may require an in-person interview.
