Technical Writer

Job Overview We are seeking a Technical Writer to support the creation, maintenance, and improvement of technical documentation and training materials for complex hardware and software systems. This role partners closely with engineering and internal stakeholders to translate highly technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly content. The ideal candidate has strong writing and training development experience, is comfortable working in highly technical environments, and can quickly absorb new information and present it in a structured, simplified way. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain technical documentation including user manuals, quick reference guides, training materials, packing lists, diagrams, and supporting product artifacts Develop and maintain training materials and reusable presentations aligned with established formats and standards Collaborate with engineering and internal teams to ensure documentation accuracy, clarity, and consistency Review and improve existing content to enhance usability and readability Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate language Draft technically enhanced materials including white papers, proposals, technical manuals, data sheets, and marketing materials Incorporate feedback to continuously improve documentation quality Maintain strong attention to detail, formatting consistency, and version control Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of technical writing, documentation, or training development experience Proven experience creating training materials and professional presentations Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint Ability to quickly learn and understand complex technical content Demonstrated ability to digest technical input and present it in a simplified, structured manner Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple documentation efforts simultaneously Willingness to provide a writing sample If prior work is under NDA, a sample created for demonstration purposes is acceptable Preferred Qualifications Experience with Adobe tools such as Illustrator or Photoshop Familiarity with technical authoring tools such as MadCap Flare or similar platforms Understanding of systems development life cycle concepts Background supporting documentation or training for technical, defense, or regulated environments Experience developing technical manuals or training content for government programs Basic familiarity with HTML or structured document formatting Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $36.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Work Location: In person
