This high-impact role requires strategic thinking, deep program management experience at scale, and a track record of building trust through consistent execution. You will oversee multiple engineering programs spanning platform modernization, product delivery, and operational excellence, ensuring alignment with Venmo's strategic objectives while coordinating across engineering, product, and technical teams. A key aspect is proactively managing program-level dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs to keep initiatives on track and stakeholders informed.Essential ResponsibilitiesScope: Deliver a product or computer-based system from design to release for customers.Develop and manage program plans, including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and procurement activities.Coordinate activities across multiple projects to ensure alignment with program objectives.Monitor program performance and implement corrective actions as needed.Communicate program status to stakeholders and executive leadership.Manage program budgets and financials.Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and resolve conflicts.Ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.Minimum Qualifications5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.Proven track record of managing complex programs within an engineering environment.Additional Responsibilities and Preferred QualificationsAt PayPal, our Consumer Experiences team powers the PayPal app and website to deliver seamless, secure, and human-centered experiences. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at scale, operates with strategic intent, and earns trust through execution.Your Day-to-DayDrive end-to-end delivery of mission-critical consumer programs—setting goals, aligning milestones, and mobilizing execution across teams.Partner with engineering and product leaders to translate ambitious ideas into well-sequenced technical workstreams.Lead through influence across Product, Engineering, Design, and Data teams.Anticipate technical dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs, and guide the program team through clear, scalable paths forward.Create clarity where there's ambiguity—use data, insight, and storytelling to inform stakeholders and enable smart decision-making.Elevate program management by championing Agile, SAFe, and Lean practices.Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and delivery excellence across globally distributed teams.What You Bring6+ years of relevant experience in technical program management or engineering, including experience at scale in consumer-facing tech.Deep understanding of the programmatic ecosystem (DSP/SSP & Exchanges) and ideally auction dynamics.Experience leading programs that deliver advertiser-facing APIs, campaign management systems, and self-serve tools.Prior experience driving complex technical programs spanning ad serving, targeting, and measurement systems.Exceptional communication, influence, and problem-solving skills across all levels of the organization.Ability to frame issues for senior stakeholders with clarity, context, and credibility.Passion for consumer experiences, developer velocity, and cross-functional teamwork.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).Pay, Location and BenefitsThe base pay for this role depends on location and experience. Pay ranges by location are:Primary Location (San Jose, CA): $159,500 - $236,500 annuallyAdditional Location(s) (Austin, TX): $145,000 - $215,050 annuallyAdditional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation.PayPal does not charge candidates any fees for courses, applications, resume reviews, interviews, background checks, or onboarding.Work Model and BenefitsPayPal offers a balanced hybrid work model with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
