Lead Cook (Boston)

The role of Lead Cook at JBCE is to execute high-level food production with consistency, speed, and precision while being a strong, steady presence in the kitchen and at events. This position works alongside the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and Event Chefs to ensure that all food leaving the kitchen meets JBCE standards.This is a hands-on cooking role. The ideal candidate leads by example on the line, maintains focus under pressure, and helps set the tone for the team through professionalism, urgency, and attention to detail.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute all menu items to JBCE standards of quality, consistency, and presentationLead by example during prep and service, maintaining strong kitchen presence and paceSupport event execution both in the commissary and at off-site locationsAssist in organizing and executing prep lists provided by chefsEnsure proper setup, execution, and breakdown of kitchen stationsMaintain clean, organized, and efficient workspaces at all timesFollow all food safety, sanitation, and handling proceduresCommunicate clearly with chefs and team members during serviceStep into a leadership role on the line when needed to keep service flowing smoothlyAssist with loading, transporting, and setting up food for off-site eventsQualificationsStrong cooking fundamentals and knife skillsExperience in high-volume kitchens, catering, or events preferredAbility to work quickly and efficiently under pressureStrong sense of urgency, organization, and attention to detailPositive attitude and team-first mentalityComfortable working long, flexible hours including nights and weekendsReliable transportation for off-site events is a plusThis role is ideal for a cook who takes pride in their craft, wants to be part of a high-performing team, and thrives in fast-paced event environments where execution matters.
