SQL Developer
Position: SQL developerLocation: RemoteDuration: contract to hire We are seeking a skilled SQL with strong ETL experience to support, maintain, and optimize our database environments and data integration processes. This role will be responsible for database performance, security, backup and recovery, troubleshooting, and the design and support of ETL workflows that ensure accurate and timely movement of data across systems. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Microsoft SQL Server, database administration best practices, and hands-on expertise with ETL tools and processes. This individual should be comfortable working cross-functionally with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support reporting, application performance, and enterprise data initiatives. Key Responsibilities Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases in development, test, and production environments Manage database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and capacity planning Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures Ensure database security, integrity, availability, and compliance with internal standards Troubleshoot database issues, outages, blocking, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server instances Design, develop, schedule, and support ETL processes for data migration, transformation, and integration Monitor ETL jobs and resolve failures, data quality issues, and load performance problems Work with large data sets from multiple source systems to support reporting and analytics needs Collaborate with development and BI teams on schema design, stored procedures, views, and data pipelines Create and maintain technical documentation for database configurations, ETL workflows, and operational procedures Support data governance efforts by ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and proper documentation Participate in on-call support or after-hours maintenance as needed Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience 3+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration 2+ years of hands-on ETL development/support experience Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration, including backups, restores, security, maintenance plans, and monitoring Experience with SSIS or other ETL/data integration tools Strong skills in T-SQL, stored procedures, views, and query tuning Experience with performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools Understanding of database normalization, data modeling, and relational database design Experience supporting production environments and critical business applications Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and documentation skills
