Job Title Library Circulation Student Supervisor (Fall 2026) Department The Help Center Job Description/DutiesProvide face-to-face customer service to library patrons and peer supervision to Library Circulation Assistants whose tasks may include:loaning/returning books and equipmentopening and/or closing the librarynavigating the SUNY Cortland website and myRedDragon to find informationconfiguring mobile devices to the SUNY Cortland Wi-Fi networkanswering telephonesassisting customers with Microsoft Office and other supported software applicationsanswering directional questionsshelving bookstroubleshoot WEPA print stationsinstructing customers in use of library equipmentLibrary Circulation Supervisor Tasks:Assisting evening staff in overseeing Memorial Library and Library Circulation AssistantsAssisting in training and evaluation of Library Circulation AssistantsEnsuring that relevant policies are being enforced and procedures are being followedHandling cash transactionsResponding to exit alarms and fire system trouble alarmsAssisting in coordinating with University Police Department and first responders in emergency situationsSubmitting shift reportsDays/Hours NeededHours of coverage coincide with Memorial Library's hours of operation, which are subject to change. Based on the current hours of operation, coverage is required for the following:Monday through Thursday: 3 p.m. to midnightFriday: 3 to 6 p.m.Saturday: 9:45 a.m. to 6 p.m.Sunday: 10:45 a.m. to midnightStudy Days and Finals week require extended hours.Campus Location/Bldg.The Help Center/Memorial LibraryRequired QualificationsMust be a current SUNY Cortland studentMore than 2 semesters working as a Library Circulation AssistantThorough knowledge of Circulation policies and proceduresFamiliarity with Memorial Library resourcesProficiency at basic tech troubleshooting (e.g. password resets, registering devices to WiFi, adding email to mobile devices, etc.)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsWilling to work at least 4 supervisor shifts per week including at least one weekend shiftPreferred Qualifications* Experience in peer leadership/supervision* Experience handling cash transactionsPhysical DemandsAbility to push and pull loaded book trucks and to lift 20 poundsSpecial Conditions for Eligibility2 semesters working as a Memorial Library Circulation AssistantContact Name(s) & Email(s)Library@cortland.eduSalary Grade B-$16.50/hr.
