Project Management DirectorCoordinate multiple departments, vendors and assets to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of major scope milestonesEstablish collaborative partnership among stakeholders to enable scoping, financial and resource decisionsIdentify, document and elevate cross-organizational and vendor-driven dependencies, and work with managers and peers across the organization to develop and implement appropriate dependency management processesEstablish appropriate project governance structures and processes by engaging executive sponsor and key stakeholders to develop appropriate thresholds and cadence for governance discussionsMentor and coach junior level Project Management staff and matrixed team members and provide guidance on adherence to the Project Management practicesWork with senior leaders to contribute relevant data to support annual planning activitiesProvide financial project performance and forecasting reports to senior executives and government regulatorsIdentify and evaluate the risks associated with project activities and work across organization to establish and monitor mitigation plansIdentify, document and spear-head evaluation of changes based on cost, schedule, risk and scope impacts as well as cross-functional dependencies. Ensure appropriate packaging of relevant information to support appropriate project change and governance decision processesDevelop and maintain required project management artifacts in accordance with Amtrak Project Management standards and applicable regulationsIdentify efficiencies and present recommended improvement opportunities at various levels of managementBachelors degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Planning or Project Management with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or any combination of relevant education and experiencePMP certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hireProject management experience on projects with a construction cost > $1 millionMust have work authorization in the United StatesAbility to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and technical specificationsStrong project management skills with prior experience managing complex cross-functional projects in a highly matrixed environmentExperience with cross-project/program dependency identification and managementStrong written and oral communication skills with ability to present complex information and respond to complex needs of a large and visible project or programAbility to network with internal and external stakeholders, and leverage relationships to resolve complex project issuesEffectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectivesMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project)Graduate degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Planning or Project Management9+ years of relevant experience preferredExperience on large office fit-out projects, including associated organizational change initiatives and activation of the new spacePrimarily office-based environment with frequent trips to active construction sitesFrequent use of a computer keyboard, monitor, and mouse to perform a variety of tasksWork in fast-paced, time sensitive circumstances with frequently changing prioritiesFrequently resolve problems with conflicting priorities in cognitively demanding situations with ability to work well under pressureApproximately 60% travel regionally and nationally, as requiredCan locate in Washington, DC with travel as required between Amtrak offices and project sites
