Clinical duties may include triage, taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner. The CMA acts as a practice ambassador, contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy.QualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or GED 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferredBilingual Spanish or PortuguesePhlebotomy and EKGKnowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) system, EpicCertifications And Licenses RequiredBLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association Medical Assistant Certification: AAMA, AECA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA, or NHAScheduling Requirements9:00am - 5:30pm Monday - FridayFull-TimeCoverage in Florham Park, NJ every Tuesday Essential FunctionsAbility to take vital signs and perform a patient assessmentPerforms clinical tasks such as blood draws, EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration, treatments and minor surgeries as neededSupports practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, preparing lab requests, and other clerical tasks as assignedCommunicates with insurance providers and handles pre-authorizations and certifications as necessaryPrepares rooms, arranges instruments and equipment, and ensures a neat and sanitary environmentRooms patients, verifies patient information, confirms purpose of visit, obtains and records vitals and updates medical historyCommunicates with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitionerCreates and maintains health record information, files and organizes, as neededOther duties as assignedOther Things To KnowThis job description outlines the core responsibilities of the role, but it’s not meant to cover every task you may take on.
