Title:Bilingual Migrant Summer School Teacher K-12*Bilingual in English/Spanish is requiredReports to:Multilingual/Migrant Administrator, Lead Teachers, or Assigned TeacherLocation:In 2026, the Summer School Site will be:Lawrence Public Schools714 W St Joseph StLawrence, MI 49064*Working Dates: Moving date June 11th; In-service dates: June 16-19, 2026; August 6th is a moving day.Instructional dates: Monday-Friday, June 22 through August 5, 2026. July 3rd is a non-working day.*Working Hours: 7:45-4:15 unless otherwise notified.Classification: Part-time seasonal work that is grant-funded.Job Goal(s): The primary responsibility of the Migrant Summer School teacher is to implement the summer migrant curriculum and assessments and provide instruction to migrant students. The duties of the Teacher are to follow grade-level migrant program curriculum or instructional standards and administer pre-instruction and post-instruction assessments as needed. Utilize student data and essential standards to accelerate learning for individual students.Specific goals may include the following:Utilize instructional materials and standards outlined in Project SMART guidelines.Engage students in the instructional process and activities.Provide instruction to improve or extend student reading and comprehension skills.Provide instruction to improve or extend student math skills and use of various strategiesProvide social-emotional learning support and strategies.Utilize STEM activities to extend student learning and increase student engagement.Provide English language development to students who have not met Michigan EL exit criteria.Participate in pre-service trainingCollect student data in the areas of English language development, student interests, readiness skills or reading, comprehension, math skills, and strategies to deliver lessons that will engage students, accelerate learning, and address learning gaps due to the migrant lifestyle.Utilize or access outside resources to enhance learning and build an experiential background.Support physical activities and healthy eating and life practices.Help students develop a positive attitude about school and learning.Communicate with families as needed regarding student progress, program goals/activities, or concerns.Notify families of school-related activities or resources available in the area.Share with Program Administrators referrals for special or community-based programs.Record and submit student daily attendance following program needs and guidance.Minimum Qualifications: Teacher certification as required by the Michigan Department of Education. English as a Second Language or bilingual endorsement preferred.*Dates/hours to be determined after final allocation of the Summer Migrant Grant*Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.This posting and our online application can be found on the Van Buren ISD's website at www.vbisd.org under Employment.
