About the RoleWe are a 24/7/365 aluminum manufacturing facility producing aluminum slugs from start to finish-including melting, casting, coil preparation, stamping, annealing, blasting, packaging, and palletizing. We are seeking a Flexible Production Shift Manager who can step in and provide full leadership coverage for any shift when the primary Shift Manager is out. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about employee relations, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Employee RelationsLead and support production teams across any assigned shift.Promote strong communication, teamwork, and accountability.Address employee concerns and performance issues professionally.Support new employee onboarding and cross-training.Production OperationsOversee daily activities across melting, casting, stamping, annealing, blasting, and packaging.Monitor production performance to meet safety, quality, and efficiency targets.Respond to equipment issues and coordinate support when necessary.Complete shift reports and ensure smooth handoff communication.Safety & ComplianceAct as the on-shift safety leader-enforcing company and OSHA safety requirements.Conduct safety observations and ensure proper PPE and LOTO procedures.Participate in incident response and preliminary investigations.Quality & Continuous ImprovementMaintain product quality standards across all production processes.Identify improvement opportunities and support Lean/CI activities.Help reduce downtime, scrap, and process variation through problem-solving.QualificationsRequired3+ years of manufacturing experience (metals or continuous-process preferred).Prior leadership experience (Supervisor, Lead, or Manager).Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.Ability to work flexible hours and cover multiple shifts.Solid understanding of manufacturing safety practices.PreferredExperience in melting/casting, coil handling, metal stamping, or heat treatment.Training or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar programs.Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.Work EnvironmentHeavy industrial setting with heat, noise, machinery, and moving equipment. Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and other assigned gear. Frequent walking, standing, and hands-on supervision are required.Required3+ years of manufacturing experience (metals or continuous-process preferred).Prior leadership experience (Supervisor, Lead, or Manager).Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.Ability to work flexible hours and cover multiple shifts.
