Job Description RESPIRATORY THERAPISTRespiratory Therapist for Upstate Sleep CenterPostionConducts nocturnal sleep testing in the Sleep Center to include monitoring of EKG, EOG, ECG, EMG, nasal/oral ventilations, chest and abdominal excusions, blood oximetry, leg and body movements and other special procedures. Recognizes sleep stages, respiratory events, limb movements for adult and pediatric patients. understands modes of and performs positive airway pressure therapy as needed for sleep breathing disorders.DutiesAdminister positive pressure and aerosol therapy to patientsInstitute and monitor oxygen therapy on patientsAssist physicians in instituting and maintaining continuous ventilationAdminister cardio-pulmonary resuscitationPerform pulmonary function testsPerform radial arterial punctures.Able to perform majority of patient care functions needed in the acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervisionQualificationsA.A.S. in Respiratory TherapyNYS license/registration as a Respiratory Therapist or Sleep in the State of New YorkMinimum of 1 year experience in sleep testingRSPGT preferred but not required.Shift: Variable work week; 8:30p-7:00a, includes weekends
