Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Shipping Coordinator to work with our Marietta, GA and Toccoa, GA plants to support and optimize outbound shipping and receiving operations across our folding carton, paperboard converting, and related packaging facilities. This role acts as a key troubleshooter and coordinator, ensuring accurate documentation, proactive communication with carriers for timely shipments of finished goods, seamless receipt and delivery of materials from vendors, compliance with safety and quality standards, and the identification of cost-savings and operational efficiencies through better internal coordination, cross-plant alignment, and partnerships with shippers, customers and vendors. The Shipping Coordinator will work closely with (but does not directly supervise) the respective Shipping Clerks at each plant to drive consistency and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position reports directly to the CFO, and will include some financial reporting activities in support of the CFO. There is potential for hybrid/remote work depending on the candidate’s experience, ability to work without direct supervision, and weekly/monthly demands as work may dictate, all subject to the discretion of the CFO. The role will require work at both the Marietta and Toccoa plants to fulfill cross-plant responsibilities.Key Responsibilities• Ensure accurate shipping documentation and compliance: prepare, review, and maintain all outbound shipping documents (bills of lading, packing lists, manifests, customs forms if applicable, and carrier-specific paperwork) for accuracy and completeness; uphold safety, quality, and regulatory standards to minimize risks and support audit readiness. • Coordinate inbound receiving of raw materials, paperboard substrates, and operating supplies with vendors and carriers, including scheduling deliveries, verifying documentation against purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies or delays to ensure timely availability and support uninterrupted production across both plants.• Serve as primary point of communication with shippers and carriers: proactively coordinate with LTL, truckload, parcel, and other carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries, resolve routing or delay issues, track shipments in real time, and escalate problems as needed to guarantee on-time delivery of finished folding cartons and related products. • Identify and drive cost-savings and process efficiencies: analyze shipping data, freight rates, and workflows to recommend and implement improvements; coordinate across plants, production, sales, procurement, and quality teams to optimize load consolidation, routing, and carrier selection while reducing waste, transit damage, and overall shipping costs. • Act as cross-plant troubleshooter and coordinator: collaborate directly with the Shipping Clerks at both Marietta and Toccoa plants to align on priorities, share best practices, and resolve bottlenecks; facilitate seamless information flow and issue resolution between plants, internal departments, and external partners. • Monitor performance and support continuous improvement: track key shipping metrics (on-time delivery, documentation accuracy, cost per shipment, carrier performance); identify trends or recurring issues and contribute to Lean initiatives, process enhancements, and training support for shipping teams. • Participate in relevant meetings and special projects: join production planning, customer service, or multi-plant alignment discussions as required; provide operational support for high-priority accounts, physical inventories, or carrier negotiations; travel occasionally for cross-plant visits or carrier/vendor meetings.Required Qualifications and Experience• 3+ years of progressive experience in shipping coordination, logistics coordination, traffic, or related roles within manufacturing, with strong preference for the folding carton, paperboard converting, printing, or packaging industry. • Demonstrated expertise in shipping documentation, carrier coordination, freight optimization, and troubleshooting complex shipment issues; hands-on knowledge of outbound logistics best practices for paperboard and carton products. • Proven ability to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies through data analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and relationship management with carriers and internal teams. • Proficiency with industry tools: ERP systems, shipping/carrier software, and advanced Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for tracking, reporting, and analysis); strong computer literacy and attention to detail. • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize effectively, and build positive working relationships at all levels without direct supervisory authority. • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is a plus. • Forklift experience or certification is beneficial but not required.
