Supervisor, Engineering 2

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, fabrication and assembly, cost reduction initiatives, processing of engineering changes, and introduction of new products. Also provides leadership, guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and operations support staff. The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for achieving short and long-term goals, development of project plans, execution of capital projects and significant activities requiring a multi-functional team. Is a team player, results oriented, dedication to excellence and strong work ethics. Position Responsibilities may include:Establish continuous improvement goals and execute action plansUtilize proven lean manufacturing abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, workflow improvements, estimating, project analysis, technology development and core manufacturing skill set.Able to supervise others and providing mentoring to junior engineers, technicians and support staffSupport DOE, 8D, FMEA, 6 Sigma and DFP analysis and implementation of Kaizen activitiesWork with Design Engineers to revise, and sustain HVAC product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principles; provide manufacturing technical resource to Design Project teamsDevelop and manage project schedules related to existing product launches or design modifications.Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests.Assist in redesigning internal components to improve overall long term system quality, improve efficiency and reduce cost.Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques.Participate on cross-functional teams to launch product modifications, resolve issues, and support product improvements.Coordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.Develop suppliers for manufacturing equipment, develop key suppliers, create an environment of continuous improvement in equipment UPTIME, EFFICIENCY & QUALITYCreate preventive maintenance that effectively maintains the equipment in optimal form without the need for short cutting the quality or machine capabilityResponsible for performance management, coaching, and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functions.Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needsNature and Scope:Provides directionWorks with the Goodman Fabrication and Production departments & Design Engineering team to sustain residential and/or commercial HVAC-related products.Knowledge and Skills:Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of manufacturing engineering theory, processes, and practiceSkilled in at least two or more of the following areas - Molding, Finishing, Tooling, Fabrication / Stamping of aluminum and steel, Assembly processes and or Product Engineering support in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of specifications and standards used in the HVAC industryLean manufacturing concepts - Kaizan, value stream mapping, Kanban, demand flow technology; line balancing & time studiesExpert on core manufacturing documentation - PFMEAs, PCPs, PFDs, DFA/DFM, and all aspects of manufacturing in a high volume environment and engineering change processesWorking knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD and MapicsExcellent leadership skills; able to envision, develop, direct, manage, delegate responsibility and authority and motivate an organizationEffective project management skillsEffective verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skillsEffective analytical and problem-solving skills - effective elimination of root cause of problems using systematic approachHigh level of attention to detail and compliance oriented with regulations, policies and procedures including safety.Priority setting - capable of managing multiple inputs and directions to deliver the desired resultsAbility to adjust to operational needs as they arise.
