Applicants should apply directly to Koochiching County.County Community Services is currently seeking applicants for a full-time (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) Public Health Nurse. Benefits include PERA Retirement, Health Insurance, Vacation Leave, Sick Leave, and Holidays.This position is responsible for providing case management and public health services to children and adults including health assessment and care plan development. Duties involve providing professional health care delivery and services in the areas of health promotion, disease prevention, environmental health and disaster preparedness.For information on how to apply, see Examination Process section below. Examples of DutiesKoochiching Examples of DutiesConducts various client health assessments, analyzes and interprets assessment results, plans, and/or provides case management services to at-risk clients, children or adults under various department programs, clinics, or screenings.Assists in the assessment and identification of health promotion and disease prevention concerns and issues within the County as part of the formulation of the Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.Conducts public health nursing clinics, WIC clinics, and water testing services.Researches, recommends and writes grant applications to obtain funding for new health care programs and services. Determines grant objectives, plans and anticipated outcomes/benefits; monitors and tracks grant expenditures; evaluates program effectiveness against stated program objectives through surveys or outcome measures; prepares reports, summaries or documentation required by funding agencies. Assists in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the public health emergency preparedness plan for the County.Performs other duties of a comparable level/type, as required. Minimum QualificationsKoochiching County Preferred Qualifications• Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota.• Public Health Nurse Certification• Bachelor of Science in Nursing - not a requirement but preferred.• Valid MN Driver's License.• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Examination ProcessNOTE: This position is not covered under the Minnesota Merit System.
