Furnace TenderAvailable Shifts:3rd Shift M - Th (7pm - 5:20am)Starting Pay: $25.50/hr. base(plus additional $1.25 shift differential and $1.75 shift premium)Job DescriptionPosition Summary: Performs a variety of tasks such as alloying metals to specification, re-melting scrap; transferring and pouring molten metal into molds, bull ladles, or trucks; regulating furnace/metal temperature; stirring furnace, skimming off dross and cold flux; maintaining and cleaning furnace, making repairs; delivering ingots and molten metal to casting machines; or monitoring, identifying and labeling ingot inventory. Inspects for quality, defects, and deviations from specifications.Responsible for quality of work and appropriately resolving unusual operating conditions.Routinely operates a forklift.Generally works at an assigned workstation.Willingly modifies work schedule and duties to accommodate Company needs.All other duties as assigned.May require the successful completion of specific education, training, or certifications.Minimum Education: Reading and understanding English language work instructionsPreferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum Skills/Experience: Six months of forklift experience, effective computer use, basic Math skills, independent decision-making, and effective self-management.Preferred Skills/Experience: One year of forklift experience in a manufacturing environmentFunctional RequirementsConsistently able to:Manually lift and move product and materials up to 55 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reaching forward, reaching overhead, lifting, carrying, crouching, and bendingPower grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truckWalk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaksPush/pull up to 100 lbs.See, inspect, handle and evaluate product qualityRead and understand written English language work instructionsWork in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditionsClimb ladders and stairs of varying heightsWear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Protective FootwearHearing ProtectionProtective EyewearGlovesAdditional PPE may as required by specific tasks
