In this role, you’ll be responsible for owning the design, evolution, and operational reliability of our Kubernetes control plane architecture, working closely with cross-functional partners to support business objectives while upholding our standards for excellence, collaboration, and impact.What You’ll DoPlatform Architecture & StrategyDesign and evolve Kubernetes control plane architecture across regionsDefine and implement multi-tenant cluster models, including shared control planes, virtual cluster approaches (e.g., vcluster, Kamaji)Drive transition from standalone clusters to regionally managed platform modelsDefine standards for isolation boundaries, resource segmentation, policy enforcementPlatform Ownership & OperationsOwn the reliability and behavior of Kubernetes platforms in productionParticipate in on-call rotation and lead incident responseDiagnose and resolve control plane instability, API server saturation, scheduling and resource contention issuesEnsure consistent lifecycle management across clusters - provisioning, upgrades, scalingMulti-Region ScalingDesign and implement strategies for regional scaling, multi-data center cluster deploymentsEnsure consistent behavior and reliability across environmentsDefine cluster topology and failure domain strategiesNetworking & Data Plane IntegrationDesign ingress and egress architectures at cluster level and regional levelTroubleshoot and optimize pod-to-pod networking, north-south traffic flows, CNI behavior (Cilium preferred)Collaborate with network engineering on high-performance networking integrationObservability & ReliabilityImprove observability across control plane components, cluster health and performanceDefine and implement resilience strategies aligned with platform goalsLead root cause analysis for production incidentsCross-Team CollaborationWork closely with DevOps engineers (automation and CI/CD) and Infrastructure teams (compute, storage, networking)Align Kubernetes platform design with underlying infrastructure capabilitiesWho You AreRequired Qualifications7+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or distributed systemsDeep experience operating Kubernetes at scale in production environmentsExperience in CSP, hyperscale, or equivalent large-scale environments strongly preferredProven experience scaling Kubernetes across:Multiple clustersMultiple regions or data centersStrong understanding of Kubernetes internals:API serverSchedulerController manageretcdExperience designing or evolving:Control plane architecturesMulti-tenant cluster modelsTechnical DepthStrong Linux systems expertiseDeep troubleshooting ability across:KubernetesContainer runtimeNetworking stackExperience with CNI plugins (Cilium preferred)Strong understanding of:Networking and traffic patternsResource isolation and schedulingPreferred QualificationsExperience with virtual cluster technologies (vcluster, Kamaji, or similar)Experience supporting GPU workloads in KubernetesFamiliarity with:NUMA-aware schedulingTopology-aware workloadsAwareness of RDMA and high-throughput networking environmentsExperience with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)What we offerStock Options100% paid Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for EmployeesCompany Health Savings Account Contributions100% paid Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance for EmployeesLife and Voluntary Supplemental Insurance OptionsOther Insurance Options, such as Pet & Legal InsuranceVarious Supplementary Health Benefits, such as discounted Virtual Healthcare Appointments and Serious Illness SupportFlexible Spending Account401(k)Employee Assistance ProgramFlexible PTOPaid HolidaysParental LeaveOther In-Office PerksEqual Employment OpportunityTensorWave is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
