OverviewCon Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers. The Distribution System Innovative Planning and Analytics (DPA) team is at the core of the Con Edison strategic vision to help New York State achieve its Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) goals and evolve the distribution grid to meet new energy demands while keeping costs affordable for customers.The Manager in the Distribution System Innovative Planning and Analytics (DPA) group will oversee a team that will develop a comprehensive, proactive, and risk adjusted area substation and distribution load relief planning approach. This role will lead probabilistic modeling efforts to develop risk adjusted planning solutions for area station load relief, as well as develop a proactive load relief planning strategy through analytics to address future electrification. The Manager will coordinate with multiple groups across the company to deliver analytical support and ensure comprehensive filings that meet the overall organization and enterprise vision. Through this role, the Manager will develop business decisions through data-driven analytical work and will support implementation of new and existing grid planning processes and tools in coordination with other engineering teams, forecasting teams, and customer program teams across the Company.ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesManage the detailed probabilistic modeling and analytical efforts to quantify area substation risk and provide insights into investment prioritization for the Load Relief Program (LRP)Lead the coordination with multiple internal stakeholders to develop risk adjusted timelines, incorporating feasibility and cost effectivenessManage and coordinate with stakeholders to evaluate the long-term holistic needs of the distribution grid that includes electrification loads (EV, BE, etc) and policy forecasting scenarios for area station and distribution feeder projects on both summer and winter peaksCoordinate with various areas of the Company such as Central and Regional Engineering, Distribution Planning, Resource Planning, and Transmission Planning, to foster the development and implementation of Proactive Planning requirements and enhance cohesive system planningEnsure proper planning and development of innovative solutions that utilize Distributed Energy Resource (DER) assets to deliver the lowest cost long-term solutionsSupport ongoing internal and external forecasting and planning studies and effortsLead the evaluation of cost impacts and value of investments of planning approaches and load relief projectsMaintain existing models and develop new automated tools in Excel and other software applications for load relief planning to hedge against forecast uncertainty and large electrification growthUtilize various data sources (AMI, PI, etc) to develop analytical insights into planning methodologiesProvide strategic leadership to a team of direct reports, ensuring successful execution of DPA priorities and continuous expansion of projects and capabilitiesEngage with regulators, and support the reporting requirements, including whitepapers, budgeting, rate case, etc. of DPA objectives with the New York Public Service CommissionSupport ASP&A team on presentations, workshops, and seminars for internal and external stakeholdersQualificationsRequired Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, Sustainability, or related) and 5 years relevant work experience orMaster's Degree Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, Sustainability, or related) and 2 years relevant work experienceRelevant Work Experience Ability to exercise independent judgment, demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities. Provide exemplary customer service to supporting teams and organizations, required. Well-organized, detail-oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments and projects, able to implement process improvements, and able to meet deadlines, requried. Strong financial and analytical skills and experience in gathering and interpreting data, required. Strong knowledge of computer applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), required. Proficiency in Excel, Python or R, SQL, for business analytics, preferred. Relevant work experience, including technical knowledge of Con Edison's electrical system, energy storage systems, project management, and construction, preferred.
