Jr GIS TechnicianContract Length: 1 Year with Possible ExtensionLocation: Lawrence Township, NJWork Setup: Hybrid (after onsite training period)Our client is seeking a motivated Jr GIS Technician to support the maintenance and accuracy of utility-based geospatial data systems. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career GIS professionals to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative utility environment while working with mapping technologies, asset data, and field operations.The Jr GIS Technician will support the electric utility GIS model by updating, editing, and maintaining geospatial information related to construction, operations, and maintenance activities. Candidates with experience using GIS applications, map editing, or spatial data management through school, internships, or professional experience are encouraged to apply.Jr GIS Technician ResponsibilitiesMaintain and update GIS-connected utility models using data from work orders, construction drawings, field reports, and asset recordsEdit, modify, and validate geospatial data within mapping systemsPerform GIS analysis, data queries, and prepare reports, maps, charts, and tabulationsProduce standard and ad-hoc map prints for field and operational requestsMaintain service point data and transformer relationships within the GIS networkResolve mapping discrepancies, connectivity issues, and land-related conflicts through office and occasional field investigationSupport utility projects including facility relocations, load rearrangements, and new business installationsUtilize automated office equipment including plotters, printers, scanners, and drafting toolsAssist with print distribution activities and support field operations as neededTravel periodically to sub-headquarters locations for print distribution rotationJr GIS Technician QualificationsRequired Qualifications1 2 years of GIS experience through work, internships, or academic projectsExperience updating, editing, or maintaining geospatial/map-based dataUnderstanding of GIS applications and spatial relationships within GIS systemsProficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applicationsValid driver s license in the State of New JerseyAbility to work onsite during the initial 8-week training periodPreferred QualificationsExperience with utility GIS systems, electric transmission/distribution environments, or asset managementExposure to MicroStation, AutoCAD, or computer-aided drafting toolsField experience or familiarity with utility operations is a plusJr GIS Technician Work EnvironmentEditors are required to work onsite daily for a minimum of 8 weeks for trainingAfter successful training, the Jr GIS Technician may transition into a hybrid rotation based on performance, workload, and client scheduling needsApproximately 5 10% field work may be requiredCandidates may occasionally use their personal vehicle for local travel assignmentsThis Jr GIS Technician role is ideal for candidates looking to grow their GIS career within the utility industry while gaining valuable experience with geospatial analysis, utility mapping, and infrastructure systems.We look forward to reviewing your application!#NoLinkedIn
