HEAD CAMP COUNSELOR

Head Camp Counselors will be responsible for the supervision and guidance of Camp Counselors to ensure a safe environment. As part of the Counselor team, they will also attend to well being of the campers, while adhering to the camp schedule. In addition, the Head Camp Counselor will maintain a high level of customer service, professionalism, creativity, and organizational skills throughout the camp day. In the absence of the Youth Programs Manager or Assistant Youth Programs Manager, Head Camp Counselors will assume the role and responsibilities of the Camp Director.Expectations:Convey a professional image through a positive attitude and proper attireEstablish and maintain good customer service and provide assistance in a courteous manner at all timesFollow all facility rules to 'set the standard' for the patronsDisplay a friendly, helpful, and cooperative manner to all participants, their families, and fellow employeesWork as part of a team to ensure quality service and a positive camp environmentResponsibilities:Provide supervision and guidance to camp counselorsRemain flexible in terms of scheduling to accommodate the changing needs of the Summer CampImmediately alert the Youth Programs Manager of any issues or concerns regarding camp, and keep her informed about the day's activities through periodic updates upon requestEnsure the safety of all participants in the Summer Camp by completing daily checklists and actively monitoring situations and the environment for changes that could compromise safetyRespond quickly to all emergency situations including administration of emergency care to any person injured while participating in camp, and promptly complete the accident and/or incident reportFollow camp policy and use appropriate behavior modification techniques to address challenging behavior, when necessaryCoordinate morning drop off and afternoon pick-up of campersActively participate in the development and implementation of Summer Camp ActivitiesAssist other departments when necessary including but not limited to: fitness, aquatics, youth and holiday events, golf and tennis.Perform other duties as assigned by the Youth Programs ManagerQualifications:At least 18 years of ageAt least 48 semester hours of college credit (with 12 in child-related fields) or two years of experience with one year in a supervisory role.6 months experience working with groups of children ages 4-12 years that includes 1 season of summer camp experienceAvailable to attend all mandatory training sessionsAvailable to work Monday through Friday for the duration of campFirst Aid and Infant/Child CPR certifications (Preferred)Demonstrated communication and leadership skillsSubmission of transcripts will be required upon hirePre-Employment ChecksA Pre Employment Background Check is required for this position.A Sworn Disclosure Statement is required for this position.A Central Registry Check is required for this position.A tuberculosis screening is required for this position.
