Field EngineerReports To: Superintendent or Project ManagerTravel Required: Yes — Nationwide Project AssignmentsPosition OverviewJGM is seeking motivated early-career Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering professionals to join our team as Field Engineers supporting self-perform industrial construction projects throughout the United States, primarily east of the Mississippi. This hands-on, site-based role works directly alongside Superintendents, Project Managers, and field leadership on complex industrial projects involving structural steel, mechanical, piping, and heavy industrial construction work.The Field Engineer will assist with daily project execution, site coordination, schedule tracking, field reporting, quality control, safety initiatives, and overall construction operations from mobilization through project completion. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to develop into future construction leaders while gaining practical field experience in fast-paced industrial environments.Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of construction-related experience along with strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to thrive in demanding project environments where teamwork, accountability, and problem-solving are essential.At JGM, safety, continuous improvement, and a “whatever it takes” mindset are at the core of everything we do. Per-diem is provided to support food and lodging.CompensationAll Field Engineer positions are salaried/exempt. Salary is determined by experience level at time of hire.Field Engineer I (2–3 Years Experience): $70,000 – $85,000Field Engineer II (3–5 Years Experience): $85,000 – $100,000Annual merit reviews are conducted for all salaried positions. Advancement is based on demonstrated field performance and project responsibility.Per Diem & Travel Package$120/day per diem paid 7 days per week while on assignment100% travel reimbursement to and from project sitesEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesWork directly alongside Superintendents and field leadership to support daily site operations and project execution from mobilization through turnoverAssist with crew coordination, manpower planning, subcontractor oversight, and field activity sequencingReview and interpret construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and project schedulesSupport field quantity tracking, productivity reporting, and installed work verificationCoordinate material deliveries, equipment usage, and project logistics to maintain scheduleTrack field progress and communicate updates, delays, and issues to the project management teamAssist with quality control inspections, punch lists, and project turnover documentationParticipate in pre-task planning, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, and site safety initiativesMaintain accurate daily reports, field logs, and photo documentationAttend site meetings, contractor coordination meetings, and client walkthroughs as requiredTroubleshoot field issues and assist with resolving real-time construction challenges alongside field leadershipRequiredQualifications & RequirementsMinimum 2 years of industrial construction field experience, preferably in structural steel, mechanical, piping, or process workAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and project documentationOSHA 30 certification preferred (OSHA 10 considered with willingness to obtain OSHA 30)Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to thrive in fast-paced construction environments and adapt to changing field conditionsWillingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours as project demands requirePreferredBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fieldExperience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management softwareProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteWhat We OfferCompetitive Base SalaryPer Diem Paid 7 Days Per Week on Project Assignments100% Travel ReimbursementMedical, Dental & Vision Insurance401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off & Company HolidaysLife InsuranceShort-Term & Long-Term Disability CoverageEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Referral Bonus ProgramPaid Training & Continuing EducationDefined Career Path into Senior Field Leadership and Project Management RolesThis job description is subject to change based on the needs of the business and is not intended to be all-inclusive.
