Our organization is in search of a compassionate and collaborative physician leader to take on the role of Chief of the Division of Palliative Medicine. We serve over three million individuals across 25 counties.About the DivisionThe Division of Palliative Medicine offers hospital-based consultative care aimed at enhancing the quality of life for patients facing serious illnesses. Our current interdisciplinary team comprises physicians, nurse practitioners, chaplains, and psychological support, collaborating closely with various specialty services within the hospital.This program maintains strong partnerships with teams such as geriatrics and other medical subspecialties, actively engaging in the education of residents and medical students through clinical supervision and didactic instruction.About the RoleIn the capacity of Chief of the Division of Palliative Medicine, you will be responsible for overseeing the clinical, academic, and educational objectives of the division while steering the ongoing expansion of palliative care services throughout the institution.Collaborating closely with departmental and health system leadership, the Chief will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction for palliative care and enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration to address the needs of patients and families across the region.In this position, you will:Provide strategic and operational guidance for the Division of Palliative Medicine.Supervise the clinical operations of a hospital-based adult consult service.Enhance and fortify interdisciplinary palliative care services across the health system.Encourage collaboration with specialties such as geriatrics, oncology, critical care, and other medical and surgical disciplines.Support and mentor faculty, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary team members.Advance the division's academic mission through the education of medical students and residents.Engage in teaching, supervision, and didactic programs within both undergraduate and graduate medical education.Lead program development, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly activities.Collaborate with institutional leadership on operational and financial objectives for the program.QualificationsMD/DO degree or equivalent.Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (or eligibility).Board certification in a primary specialty such as Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or a related field.Proven excellence in clinical care, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.Previous leadership, program development, or administrative experience is preferred.Eligibility for academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.Eligibility for medical licensure in New York State.We provide a highly competitive benefits package, which includes:A competitive starting salary range of $325,000-$360,000 based on academic rank, with additional incentive bonus opportunities.A generous sign-on bonus to welcome you to our team.Relocation assistance to facilitate your move.Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision).Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.A retirement plan plus a 403(b) option.An annual CME allowance along with dedicated CME time.Occurrence-based malpractice coverage.Employee wellness programs and mental health support.A new faculty mentorship program in the Department of Medicine.Our organization serves as a cornerstone for medicine, research, and medical education in New York's Capital Region, employing over 10,000 individuals and offering excellent career opportunities in various roles within patient care and administration.
