Lead Ophthalmic Technician
*Job Description*We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lead Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. Under the supervision of our Technician supervisor. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology practice. This may include but is not limited to practicing customer service excellence by working up patients in the clinic, coordinating patients' visits, maintaining equipment and supplies, and communicating the needs of the office to the appropriate manager.This position requires a strong understanding of medical procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.*Responsibilities*Perform preliminary eye exams and tests, including visual acuity assessments, biometry and tonometry.Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures.Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.Utilize medical coding for billing purposes and ensure proper documentation of services rendered.Educate patients on eye care, treatment options, and post-operative instructions.Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment and instruments.Collaborate with the clinic team to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality care.Work up patients and scribe with the doctor.Manage the doctor schedule.Monitor work up and work flow of the clinic and the proper information in the EMR.Collaborates with the Technician supervisor with team schedule.Assist ophthalmologists in diagnostic procedures and surgeriesObtain patient medical history and document relevant information in medical recordsAdminister eye drops and medications as directed by the physicianOther duties as assigned.*Skills:*Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and equipmentProficiency in medical billing, coding, and record management systemsExcellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionalsAbility to work effectively in a fast paced environment with attention to detail*Preferred Education and Experience*A minimum of a high school diploma, required*A bachelors degree, preferred*A minimum of 3 years related experienceCOA certification preferred and must receive their COA after 6 months of employmentNote: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position.
