Senior Design Engineer – Aerial Work Platforms / Heavy EquipmentLocation: San Antonio, Texas We’re partnering with a leading manufacturer in the construction and powered access sector to recruit a Senior Design Engineer for their growing engineering team in San Antonio. This is a high-impact opportunity to play a key role in the design and development of next-generation aerial work platforms and heavy equipment used on major projects across North America and globally.This position is ideally suited to an experienced engineer who thrives on ownership, enjoys solving complex design challenges, and wants to influence product performance from concept through production.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for aerial work platforms and heavy equipmentOwn projects from initial concept through prototyping, testing, and production releaseDevelop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)Conduct engineering analysis including FEA, load cases, and fatigue to ensure durability and performanceCollaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and service teams to deliver robust, cost-effective designsDrive continuous improvement across existing product lines, focusing on reliability, safety, and manufacturabilityEnsure all designs meet relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirementsMentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practicesWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline5+ years of design engineering experience within construction equipment, heavy machinery, or powered accessStrong background in either structural design, hydraulics, electrical or mobile equipment systemsAdvanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)Experience taking products through full lifecycle development in a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of real-world operating conditions and design for manufacturabilityExcellent problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
