The Director of Quality is responsible for overseeing clinical and non-clinical quality and patient safety-related activities, directs performance improvement initiatives, and works collaboratively with senior leadership, department leadership, line staff, and external partners to promote a culture of continuous improvement and to improve outcomes. Serving as a subject matter expert, this position establishes, maintains, and strengthens the organization-wide quality structure and reporting. Though not individually responsible to accomplish the day-to-day functions in each department related to quality, this position will unify the entire organization in these endeavors. Serves as a member of the Leadership Team and is available to all staff as a resource on clinical and education related matters. Maintains and Enhances Skills Responsible for clinical and non-clinical quality programs (CQI) oversight, including policies and procedures, data collection, data analysis, and communication of initiatives and results. Responsible for providing consultation and education related to clinical quality and patient safety and contributing to the evaluation, design, and development of evidence-based guidelines, principles, and/or programs related to area of work as well as facilitating implementation efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice and optimize patient outcomes. Develops and utilizes quality improvement performance metrics to establish improvement success; collaborates with multiple stakeholders, often with competing/conflicting objectives, to ensure development of cohesive and reachable metrics are practical and approved; and facilitates the collection of metric data from workflows and projects by utilizing sound methodology. Collaborates with data manager to ensure the Power BI reports are accurate. Actively involved within Electronic Medical Records for data collection and data analysis for clinical data. Demonstrates the essential skills and knowledge in day-to-day situations. Is a continual learner, adds to knowledge and skills as job requirements evolve. Meets all training requirements, including Ninth Brain assignments. Operations Management Facilitates the management of policies and procedures process within the organization. Conducts all business in accordance with appropriate standards, policies, and procedures. Quality and Regulatory Compliance Assistance with company readiness for accredited status. (e.g., CAMTS, CASS, ODPS) Respects confidential information and follows all policies and procedures. Reports any concerns regarding any company policies and procedures and any observed practices in violation of policy to the appropriate member of management. Actively involved in Clinical Quality Improvement committee utilizing GAMUT data. Interfaces with Director of Safety and Security and Vice President of Legal Affairs and Risk Management to identify and mitigate risks. Reduces risk and liability exposure to the organization in terms of operational safety, clinical/patient safety, strategic, financial, human resources, legal/regulatory, technology, hazard to assets, or anything that could potentially cause harm to patients, customers, or partners. Actions include proactively identifying, characterizing, and assessing threats; determining the potential risk on specific assets/processes/operational issues; identifying ways to prevent, eliminate or reduce those risks; prioritizing risk reduction measures based on a strategy. Strategic Planning Focuses on strategic priorities; leverages clinical and non-clinical expertise and best practice research to develop and align practical plans. Project Management Effectively plans, manages, and achieves milestones, quality, customer satisfaction, budget, and profitability of project(s). Manages multiple priorities efficiently and effectively. Maintains flexibility to adapt priorities based on changing business needs. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or EMS related field strongly preferred; degree may be substituted by the equivalent of at least 6 years of combined critical care nursing or active EMS experience. Current State of Ohio RN license or EMT-Paramedic certification required. Minimum of 3 years of critical care transport experience strongly preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality leadership Knowledge of system process analysis, quality/process improvement techniques, design, and integration, at a level of complexity associated with integrating processes across multiple departments of an organization. Possess a level of analytical ability to problem-solve, evaluate, plan, and direct process improvement projects and benchmarking activities for all clinical and non-clinical departments. Informatics – Electronic Medical Records Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time. Ability to work well with all levels of staff. Ability to work in an unstructured, non-routine environment. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Good planning and organizational skills. Excellent computer skills. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of roles of community hospitals as well as pre-hospital care givers. Leadership skills and the ability to relate to clinical EMS staff. CMTE (Certified Medical Transport Executive) required within 2 years of hire. CPHQ Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) required within 2 years of hire. Acceptable driving record per MedFlight’s insurance carrier. Ability to work flexible schedule. Ability to negotiate effectively
