Engineering Manager, AI Developer Platform

We are partnering with a growing developer infrastructure company seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team building AI-enabled development experiences. The team develops the systems that allow software agents to operate effectively within real engineering environments. The work covers agent execution, integrations, tool use, context handling, streamed interactions, and workflows that may run over extended periods. This person will grow and support the engineering team, influence technical direction, and remain closely involved in architecture and implementation. The role offers a combination of people leadership, product development, distributed systems, and applied AI. What You'll DoLead, coach, and grow a team of software engineersHelp set the technical direction for agent execution, integrations, and developer workflowsStay close to the code and participate in architecture and implementation decisionsImprove how software agents use tools, manage context, stream results, and complete long-running tasksCreate flexible integrations that can support multiple AI models and providersPartner with Product and Design to turn emerging AI capabilities into practical developer experiencesImprove the reliability, performance, and operational health of distributed agent systemsEstablish clear priorities and help the team navigate technical tradeoffsMaintain a strong engineering bar while creating opportunities for individual growth What We're Looking ForExperience managing and developing software engineering teamsStrong, recent hands-on experience with GoProfessional experience with React and TypeScriptHands-on experience building applications or infrastructure around LLMs and software agentsFamiliarity with model APIs, tool calling, context management, or iterative agent executionStrong knowledge of distributed systemsWorking knowledge of AWSSound technical judgment and comfort making decisions in ambiguous environmentsA track record of mentoring engineers while maintaining delivery and quality standards Helpful ExperienceCoding agents, developer tools, or cloud-based development platformsMCP, multi-agent systems, or reusable agent toolsRemote execution, sandboxed environments, or isolated computeIntegrations spanning multiple AI model providersAWS, Kubernetes, Docker, or LinuxOpen-source contributionsDirect collaboration with customers or enterprise users Technology EnvironmentBackend: Go and PostgreSQLFrontend: TypeScript and ReactInfrastructure: AWS and KubernetesObservability: Prometheus and GrafanaCI/CD: GitHub Actions EOE Statement: Specialist Staffing Group is an equal opportunity employer.
