Sr Staff Software Engineer, Enablement Stack

Sr. Staff Engineer and Principal Engineer LevelRelocation Required: Candidates must be willing to relocate to Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX if not currently based in one of these locations.As a Software Developer, you will work within a distributed team to develop solutions for custom CPUs. The role focuses on Linux kernel, boot firmware, and low-level libraries, collaborating with hardware and software teams to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and security. This role also includes optimizing existing software and enabling new architectural features.Technical Skills and ExpertiseDeep understanding of computer architecture concepts, including high-performance designs, weak memory models, server platforms, and the hardware/software interfaceProficiency in C, assembly language, and build systemsExperience in systems programming with Python or similar languagesFamiliarity with distributed version control systems and modern software development best practicesExpertise in developing software virtual platforms, low-level boot firmware, and debugging tools in pre-silicon and on hardwareExperience building to platform standards, including UEFI, ACPI, and SystemReadyRole and ResponsibilitiesAssist in defining future high-performance SoCs and platformsCollaborate with the performance team to identify hardware optimization areasCreate optimizations and drivers for high-performance platformsEnsure existing operating systems run efficiently and identify opportunities for performance enhancementsPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science15+ years of experience building software stacks for high-performance systems10+ years building software stacks for high-performance systems10+ years of Linux kernel development experiencePrincipal Duties and ResponsibilitiesAutonomy: Work independently with minimal supervisionCommunication: Use verbal and written skills to convey complex information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and large groupsInfluence: Have a notable impact on key organizational decisions by providing input to senior leadershipTask Management: Execute multi-step tasks requiring simultaneous cognitive abilities and memory managementInnovation: Exercise exceptional creativity to develop new ideas and innovative products or processesProblem Solving: Use deductive and inductive reasoning to solve complex problems with advanced data analysis and interpretation
