Project Manager - Engineering Construction

Project Manager Location: Indianapolis Job Type: Full Time Position Overview The Estimator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of commercial construction projects by accurately assessing costs, preparing competitive bids, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This role is essential to driving profitability and client satisfaction while aligning with the company’s core values and commitment to excellence. Core Responsibilities 1. Project Leadership Oversee all phases of project execution, ensuring alignment with project goals, budgets, and schedules. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Proactively identify and resolve project risks, delays, or conflicts to keep projects on track. Manage the design team through the drawing and pre-construction phases on design-build projects. 2. Budget and Financial Oversight Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability. Ensure all subcontractors have proper insurance and have executed their contracts prior to starting work. Review and approve vendor/subcontractor proposals, pay applications, and change orders. Monitor job costs, track variances, and ensure financial targets are achieved. Ensure subcontractor scopes of work are detailed and inclusive of all items needed to provide complete coverage of project requirements. Ensure changes in scope that will result in an Owner change order are communicated to the Owner and approved in a timely manner. 3. Scheduling and Planning Create, manage, and monitor project schedules to ensure timely delivery, working closely with the superintendent. Coordinate with the Superintendent on all project activities, including permitting, inspections, subcontractor scheduling, and resource allocation. Create and manage procurement log and submittals. Address delays or issues promptly with strategic solutions to minimize impact. Coordinate RFIs and drawing revisions with the project superintendent, and track/process all changes in cost or scope with Owner and subcontractors. 4. Quality and Safety Management Ensure projects meet high standards for quality, safety, and compliance. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve any deviations. Implement and enforce safety protocols in line with OSHA standards and company policies. 5. Communication and Reporting Provide clear, consistent, and timely updates to clients, leadership, and project teams. Document project progress, decisions, and challenges for accountability and transparency. Communicate issues early, ensuring challenges are addressed before they escalate. Generate monthly project reports to track cost, profit, and schedule. 6. Client Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong, trust-driven relationships with clients. Anticipate client needs and ensure expectations are exceeded. Represent the company as a consultative, solutions-focused partner. 7. Team Development and Coordination Collaborate with design, estimating, and field teams to deliver successful outcomes. Mentor and guide junior team members, subcontractors, and consultants to foster a high-performing project team. Drive team accountability, performance, and alignment with company values. Qualifications Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in commercial construction project management. Technical Skills: Proficiency with project management software (Job Planner, MS Project, Building Connected, Bluebeam, or equivalent). Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, and cost management. Certifications: OSHA 30. Other Requirements: Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to travel as needed to project sites. Adaptability and accountability in fast-paced environments.
