Life Safety Specialist 2
Job Description
The Life Safety Specialist is responsible for the monitoring, inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of life safety-related equipment, and processes. This position applies industry knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles and technical capabilities to serve as an Testing, Inspection and compliance Specialist for Emergency Power generation and Life safety equipment and processes across Student Life facilities. This position is also a hands-on position requiring mechanical and some electrical aptitude coupled with excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills. The Life Safety Specialist typically works from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday thru Friday, but is, subject to changes in shift, hours, days and/or location as operations dictate. Subject to call 24-hour call in. Given the level of expertise required, this role may also serve as an informal resource for less experienced colleagues and works on complex projects of large scope. Will serve as a liaison to customers and stakeholders to communicate impacts for Emergency power generation and other Life Safety system repairs, maintenance and testing by vendor, as well as upgrade and/or replacement projects.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. 2 years of relevant life alarm system or control systems maintenance experience; valid driver’s license; ability to lift 70 lbs.; available for 24-hour calls; experience using CMMS systems to include creation of planned/scheduled maintenance events; minimum 100 hours training in operating electrical tools and equipment (or 1 month exp.); experience and understanding of required testing and planned scheduling and maintenance of Emergency power generation equipment and related components to ensure compliance at local and state levels; computer literacy and ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders via email; experience troubleshooting, repairing and testing emergency power generation systems equipment.
Desired: 2-4 years relevant Building Maintenance, electrical, and/or emergency power generation systems maintenance experience; working experience and knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems and general building systems.
The targeted hiring range for this position is $28.22 - $37.12.
