Sales EngineerThe Sales Engineer is responsible for technical solution design, customer discovery, and pre-sales engineering activities to support revenue growth and successful project execution. This role partners closely with Sales, Product, and Operations to ensure customer requirements are accurately captured, technically feasible, and aligned to Interface's solution portfolio.Sales Engineers act as trusted advisors to customers, ensuring solutions are properly scoped, designed, and documented to enable efficient implementation at scale. This role is critical to delivering high-quality customer outcomes while maintaining design accuracy and operational efficiency.ResponsibilitiesConduct customer scoping sessions to understand business objectives, technical requirements, and operational constraintsTranslate customer requirements into scalable, standardized Interface solutionsDesign systems across video, access control, intrusion, and managed services environmentsEvaluate existing customer infrastructure and determine reuse vs. replacement strategiesProvide "good / better / best" solution alternatives aligned to customer needs and budgetConduct on-site assessments and customer walkthroughs as neededProduce detailed technical designs including:Bill of materials (BOM)Site layouts and architecturesEquipment specifications and infrastructure requirementsDocument all assumptions, dependencies, and technical risks in the design packageEnsure all required documentation is complete prior to handoff to Project Management and OperationsPartner with Sales to support deal strategy and customer engagementsAssist in RFP responses, proposals, and technical solution presentationsProvide product demonstrations and technical validation for prospective customersSupport development of ROI-based value propositionsAssess solution feasibility across site conditions, infrastructure, and product capabilitiesIdentify and communicate risks early in the sales cycleRecommend mitigation strategies and alternative approachesEnsure compliance with industry standards and Interface best practicesWork closely with:Sales teamsProduct ManagementSystem Design EngineeringOperations and Field ServicesEnsure alignment on scope, deliverables, and customer expectationsSupport smooth transitions from pre-sales to implementationIdentify gaps in current product offerings and provide feedback to Product teamsParticipate in evaluation of new technologies and third-party solutionsSupport pilot programs, AI/BI initiatives, and emerging solution developmentQualifications:Required:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience in systems design, solution engineering, or technical pre-salesExperience designing or supporting:Video surveillance systemsAccess control systemsIntrusion Security systemsStrong understanding of system integration and technical architecturePreferred:Experience in managed services, security integration, or multi-site enterprise environmentsFamiliarity with AI, video analytics, or remote monitoring solutionsExperience working with distributed enterprise customers (retail, QSR, etc.)Key CompetenciesStrong technical problem-solving and systems thinkingAbility to translate business needs into technical designsExcellent communication and customer-facing skillsHigh attention to detail and documentation disciplineAbility to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environmentEEO StatementInterface Systems will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
