IT Specialist

Job Description Job SummaryThe IT Specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the organization’s computer systems, servers, and networks. This role ensures stable and secure IT operations, provides technical support to end users, and contributes to technology planning and implementation. The position requires a blend of hands-on technical ability, analytical skills, and effective communication to support the organization’s technology needs.Primary ResponsibilitiesSystem & Network Administration• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, servers, and network equipment.• Monitor performance and security of LAN/WAN and server environments.• Manage Active Directory, user accounts, and access permissions.• Implement and maintain data backup, disaster recovery, and system security measures.• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.Technical Support & Training• Provide end-user support for hardware, software, and application issues.• Deliver user training and documentation for new systems and updates.• Maintain detailed logs of service requests, resolutions, and maintenance activities.• Collaborate with vendors and corporate IT teams for complex technical issues.Project & Vendor Management• Participate in technology upgrades, network improvements, and system implementations.• Coordinate with vendors for equipment purchasing and maintenance.• Support budgeting and procurement processes related to IT infrastructure.Security & Compliance• Ensure data protection and compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.• Apply and maintain security policies, updates, and user access controls.• Stay current with emerging technologies and cybersecurity best practices.Education & Certifications• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required.• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional, or CCNA preferred.• Equivalent experience will be considered.Experience• 3-5 years of experience in IT support, network administration, or systems management.• Strong background with Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, and network troubleshooting.• Experience with data backup, recovery, and security management.• Healthcare IT experience preferred.Skills & Abilities• Strong knowledge of computer systems, networks, and operating systems.• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail.• Clear communication and ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.• Customer service–oriented with strong teamwork and time management skills.• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint).Work Environment• May require lifting up to 50–60 pounds and extended computer use.• Occasional travel between company sites and after-hours support as needed.SummaryThe IT Specialist ensures that technology supports the organization’s daily operations and long-term goals by maintaining a reliable, secure, and efficient IT environment.
