Start a career that supports your growth and the success of the agency. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position plays an important role in moving freight and supporting daily operations at the facility. It involves guiding inmate workers and ensuring work is completed safely and correctly. As a Corrections Equipment Operator, you will perform the following duties:Vehicle Operation: Operate tractor-trailers, trucks, and other vehicles as part of daily assignmentsEquipment Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance, safety checks, and minor repairs on vehicles and equipmentWork Documentation: Complete and submit required receipts, logs, and reports according to policies and guidelinesInmate Oversight: Train and monitor inmate workers in safe and proper methods for loading, unloading, and repairing equipmentWork Area Security: Safeguard tools and materials, maintain inventories, and search inmates and work areas for contrabandInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 40-hour work weekWork hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday.This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; orA combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.Special Requirements:You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.Additional Requirements:Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
