Alternate Locations: Work from HomeWork Arrangement:Remote : Work at home employee residing outside of a commutable distance to an office location.Relocation assistance: is not available for this opportunity.Requisition #: 75800The Role at a GlanceWe are seeking a Director of Derivatives Accounting, focusing on leading the derivatives accounting and financial reporting function for a large book of derivative positions spanning futures, rate, FX, equity, credit and TRS derivatives. This role focuses on US GAAP and statutory accounting, hedge accounting under ASC 815 (cash flow and fair value hedges for interest rate and foreign exchange risk), fair value measurement, and the end-to-end monthly close, disclosures, and audit interface. The Director will design and operate a robust control environment (SOX), own the documentation and testing for hedge relationships, deliver timely, accurate general ledger and financial statement reporting, including NAIC SSAP No. 86 and Schedule DB.What you'll be doingEnsure proper accounting for high-volume products both in and outside of hedge accounting under both US GAAP and SAPManage life cycle events and reinsurance impacts related to derivativesManage the hedge accounting program under ASC 815 for cash flow and fair value hedgesEstablish at-inception documentation, leveraging technology for STPBuild and maintain quantitative testing, including construction of hypothetical derivatives to measure the hedged risk, regression testing, and other analysis to support hedge accountingOversee the design and execution of control environment, maintaining complete audit trailsLaison with multiple stakeholders across the organization from Treasury/Front Office, Middle Office, Legal, Reinsurance, Accounting Policy, various lines of business accounting, and Controller/Corporate AccountingPrepare US GAAP footnotes and MD&A inputs for derivatives and hedgingCoordinate statutory reporting for derivatives and Schedule DB; ensure alignment of GAAP/STAT and clear reconciliationsSupport external audit and internal audit requests, providing technical memos, control narratives, and evidence, and managing any remediation plans and status trackingOwn accounting rules and configuration in derivatives systems and help drive implementation of new derivative accounting platformPartner with Treasury on hedge objectives, designation timing, and documentationWork with Controllers/Financial Reporting on policy alignment, disclosures, and close cadenceCoordinate with Risk/Valuation for model inputs and market events impacting measurement and effectivenessLead, coach, and develop managers/analysts focused on derivatives accounting and reporting, setting clear responsibilities and growth plansFoster a culture of technical rigor, ownership, and continuous improvementWhat we're looking forMust-Haves5 - 7+ Years experience public accounting, internal audit, control, risk or other activities with the specific responsibilities for this position3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent work experienceDemonstrated SOX 404 control design/operation in accounting and reporting processesProficiency converting complex derivative topics into clear accounting entries, disclosures, and controlsAbility to be innovative and an aptitude to drive and accept changeEffective verbal and written communication skillsAnalytical skills and close attention to detail is necessaryAbility to adapt quickly in a changing work environmentApplication DeadlineApplications for this position will be accepted through May 31, 2026, subject to earlier closure due to applicant volume.What's it like to work here?At Lincoln Financial, we love what we do. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.
