Part-Time Faculty - Maritime Teaching both credit and non-credit USCG approved courses.
Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies. Instructors employed as part-time faculty are not entitled to all the rights, privileges, and benefits of regular, full-time employees. Part-time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and will work for the duration of time specified by the respective course. A portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes and possibly weekend classes. Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location. Required Qualifications:
Must have an associate degree (or higher level degree). In lieu of degree must have proven, extensive experience in teaching U.S. Coast Guard approved courses.
At least four (4) years of teaching experience in either operational or management level U.S. Coast Guard approved courses or recent, equivalent sea time.
Must be in good physical condition and must be a strong swimmer.
Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
Must have a working knowledge of computing systems and software, be a team player/leader, and place a high priority on student learning.
Either hold a 1600 Ton Masters License or Third Mate Unlimited License (or above level license).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Maritime or a related field preferred.
Ten (10) years of teaching experience in either operational or management level of U.S. Coast Guard approved courses.
