Backend Developer

## About the JobWe are seeking a **Senior Backend Developer** with extensive experience building and testing software in an Agile environment. The role focuses on developing backend functionality using JVM-based technologies, microservice patterns, and Kafka while collaborating with product, infrastructure, security, and other technical teams.The position is fully remote and requires strong software engineering, testing, documentation, and Agile development experience.## Key Responsibilities* Develop and test backend code that delivers functionality aligned with business strategy and objectives.* Build and implement features from the product backlog.* Estimate and size user stories.* Write unit tests and create automated test scripts.* Execute testing activities and validate deliverables against user story acceptance criteria.* Complete required project and technical documentation.* Collaborate closely with other teams to ensure features meet business requirements.* Follow industry-standard Agile software design and development methodologies.* Work with infrastructure, security, and other technical partners.* Participate in iterative development and user-story-driven delivery.* Contribute to test-driven development and software test automation practices.## Required Skills* Strong experience with **JVM-based programming languages**.* Strong understanding of **microservice patterns and architectures**.* Hands-on experience with **Apache Kafka**.* Extensive backend software development experience.* Experience working in Agile development environments.* Experience with unit testing and automated software testing.* Strong understanding of user stories, acceptance criteria, and iterative development.* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.## Preferred Skills* **Groovy*** **Kotlin*** **Ratpack*** **PostgreSQL*** **Elasticsearch*** Experience with Scrum methodologies.* Scrum certification is a plus.* Experience with test-driven development and software test automation.## Qualifications & Experience* Senior-level role requiring **10+ years of overall experience** as stated in the listing.* The listing also specifies **3–5 years of engineering experience** and **1–3 years participating in Agile development**.* Deep experience working in Agile environments.* Experience with iterative development, user stories, and software delivery processes.* Strong testing, documentation, and collaboration capabilities.## Work Environment* Fully remote position.* Agile and collaborative engineering environment.* Regular collaboration with infrastructure, security, product, and other technical teams.
