Retail Construction Superintendent

David Nice Builders is seeking a dynamic, travel-ready Retail Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for retail construction projects across the nation. This is a critical field leadership role where you will serve as the primary on-site representative of DNB, ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.As a Traveling Retail Superintendent, you will directly manage subcontractors, field labor, and site logistics while acting as the key liaison with clients, architects, and project stakeholders. Another major focus of this role is site safety leadership, you will serve as the on-site safety supervisor, enforcing OSHA compliance and fostering a strong safety culture on every job.This position requires extensive travel and is ideal for a proactive, highly organized leader who thrives in fast-paced retail environments and takes pride in exceeding client expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead day-to-day on-site operations for retail construction projects, directly supervising subcontractors and field crewsMaintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and partnersAct as the site safety supervisor: enforce OSHA regulations, conduct safety audits, and promote a zero-incident safety cultureInterpret blueprints and provide technical guidance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and civil workManage project schedules, manpower allocation, and look-ahead planning to meet all deadlinesConduct quality inspections and enforce strict quality control standardsMonitor job costs and profitability; identify and implement cost-saving measuresPrepare and submit detailed daily reports, photos, and documentation via ProcoreParticipate in weekly production and client meetingsUphold DNB's high standards for site cleanliness, professionalism, and company cultureWhat You Bring (Qualifications)Required:Proven track record successfully managing retail construction projectsStrong knowledge of construction practices, safety regulations, and retail build-out processesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to submit daily reports, photos, and documentation accurately and on timeExcellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skillsValid driver's license with clean driving recordWillingness and ability to travel extensivelyPreferred:Prior experience as a traveling superintendent in retail, commercial, or tenant improvement projectsOSHA 30-Hour CertificationConstruction management software (Trimble a plus)Personal Traits: You are a dependable, safety-first leader with strong communication skills and a proactive mindset.
