He or she will create clarity, accountability, and stability across the engineering organization. This individual will be responsible for developing engineers, managing performance, balancing resources, reinforcing consistent processes, and ensuring the team has the direction and support needed to deliver high-quality work. The successful candidate will combine empathy and approachability with the willingness to make decisions, address difficult issues, and hold the team accountable.Key job requirements:Demonstrated experience directly managing, coaching, and developing engineers at different experience levels.Ability to set clear expectations, assign ownership, and hold employees accountable for performance, quality, and deadlines.Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction, candid feedback, and consistent follow-through.Ability to build trust with employees while still addressing performance or behavioral issues promptly and directly.Experience conducting regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, development planning, and career-path discussions.Ability to translate company priorities into clear team objectives, individual responsibilities, and measurable expectations.Strong resource-management skills, including balancing workloads, assigning the right people to projects, and identifying capacity constraints before they affect delivery.Ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, technical leaders, and company leadership without creating confusion over decision-making authority.Commitment to establishing and consistently following engineering processes, including project execution, documentation, QC, and technical escalation.Ability to create a culture in which concerns are raised early, employees bring forward solutions, and mistakes are addressed constructively rather than through blame.Demonstrated ability to lead through organizational change, maintain team stability, and communicate calmly when priorities or responsibilities shift.Strong judgment regarding when to make a decision independently, when to involve technical leadership, and when to escalate an issue to senior leadership.Commitment to developing future leaders, strengthening the company’s PE bench, and reducing dependence on a small number of senior individuals.Ability to recognize strong performance, connect employees’ work to client and company outcomes, and reinforce Valor’s mission and trusted-advisor culture.Willingness to roll up their sleeves and support the team when necessary without becoming the bottleneck or taking ownership away from others.Uphold and advance Valor’s safety-first culture.Technical skillsKnowledge of oil and gas upstream, midstream, and production facilities, including compressor stations, production facilities, gas processing plants, SWDs, and pipelines. Regulatory knowledge in EPA OOOOa/OOOO b regulations, state air regulations, and emerging regulatory frameworks. Proficiency in developing and interpreting engineering drawings, including P&IDs, plot plans, and related facility drawings. Knowledge in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Promax or HYSYS modeling, CVS walkdowns, including field methodology and data collection is an asset.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering15+ years of experienceLegally entitled to work in the USAAbility to travel to field locations across the USAPE in Texas and Colorado an assetWhy Join Us?
