Position Title: Cleared Cloud Engineer
Location: Lorton, Virginia
Clearance Level: Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility is required
Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000
KGES is the lead for this exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Cleared Cloud Engineer . This role will involve managing cloud infrastructure, automating solutions, and working directly with customers to deliver robust and secure cloud environments. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in cloud technologies, automation, and systems administration, specifically within Azure or equivalent cloud environments, and will have a strong background in infrastructure as code.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Automation :
Use existing automation tools to deploy Azure workloads, ensuring compliance with customer site-specific requirements.
Develop, troubleshoot, and propose improvements to existing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using technologies such as PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, Bicep/ARM, and Azure CLI (or equivalent languages).
Create and test automation scripts to support imaging processes, including Windows system patching and deployment of silent application installations.
Cloud Environment Management :
Manage Azure Administration and Automation, or demonstrate equivalent experience in other cloud environments (e.g., AWS or GCP).
Update and maintain Azure workstation images using existing automation tools, ensuring all necessary application adjustments are implemented.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the deployment of Azure infrastructure and Windows imaging within cloud environments.
Leverage WSUS for patching and group policy management, resolving issues flagged by ACAS or other security tools.
Security & Compliance :
Resolve vulnerabilities within multiple Azure environments, ensuring compliance with industry security standards and best practices.
Implement security best practices for cloud deployments and assist customers in adhering to compliance protocols.
Collaborate with teams to proactively research and recommend optimal cloud solutions, ensuring that security and scalability are priorities.
Customer Support :
Provide ongoing support to customers using the environment, addressing system issues, and troubleshooting deployment and automation problems.
Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, demonstrating best practices for achieving their operational goals within the Azure environment.
Create and maintain detailed technical documentation to guide customer teams in operating and maintaining their cloud infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience :
Advanced technical competency and hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and systems administration.
5+ years of experience working in SCI/SAP environments with demonstrated success in cloud computing technologies.
Strong proficiency in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Active Directory Federated Services (AD FS), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) , and experience with automation and group policy management .
Demonstrated experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and scripting (PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, ARM, Bicep, Azure CLI).
Experience in Azure cloud administration and equivalent experience in other cloud environments, with a focus on automating deployments and troubleshooting.
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology , or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Leadership :
3+ years of experience leading technical teams or working in a leadership role within cloud engineering or system administration projects.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a high-stakes cloud environment.
Certifications :
Technical certifications in Azure Cloud (Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, etc.) are preferred.
Security+ or other relevant cybersecurity certifications are highly desirable.
Other Requirements :
Strong familiarity with Kubernetes, Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, ACAS automation , and Azure VPN Gateways .
Experience with Mission Application Experience, Azure Stack Networking , and Type Accreditation Support .
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of leadership experience in a related business or technical role.
Advanced technical certifications in Azure (Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer, etc.).
Demonstrated success in managing cloud environments in highly regulated or secure environments such as DoD, SAP, or SCI environments .
