This individual provides on-site medications, health screening, first aid, referrals and triage to students and staff.Essential FunctionsContribute to The Cooperative’s commitment to equity and continuous quality improvement that aligns with the agency’s mission, goals, and advancement. * Effectively cross-collaborate with agency staff, leaders, and board members to foster a comprehensive approach of information sharing, working committees, and collective representation. * Routinely disseminate relevant information, presentations, training, and learning opportunities for internal program and agency staff. * When applicable, will participate in relevant staff development opportunities (trainings, summits, conferences, etc.) to increase skill development, elevate program goals, and engage staff members with timely key learnings. * Maintains health records consistent with state and local requirements * Provides emergency care for injuries and illness in the school as determined by the professional judgment of the nurse * Administers medication/treatment to students as per specified approved written policy * Performs health screenings as mandated by the state with referrals and follow up as needed * Communicates with faculty, parents and students to serve the best interest of the students regarding health services * Acts as a resource person for students, their families and faculty * Compiles reports related to services delivered in schools and submits reports to Nurse Coordinator * Performs other duties as assignedRequirementsRegistered Nurse licensed in the State of New Jersey Certification in School Nursing not required but preferredCPR and BLS certifiedTwo years of school nursing experience preferred Culturally competent experience working with diverse populations Valid driver’s license, car and current insurance policy Physical RequirementsMust be able to see to read documents and hear well enough to communicate with othersMust be able to write, type on a computer, and use a telephoneMust be able to operate a motor vehicleMust be able to lift up to 20 poundsAdditional requirements to be determined with input from Director and HRReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Work EnvironmentTravels regularly to sites where traffic, weather, and other environmental conditions may be encountered; otherwise works in a climate-controlled professional office environment generally free from hazards and other adverse working conditions
