All rotations are located at our Fairlawn, OH campus and may include:Inpatient Post-Surgical Unit - Day/Night ShiftsPre-Operative (PreOp)Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)Patient Transport___________Position SummaryThe Student Nurse Technician contributes to high-quality patient care by supporting the nursing team with direct patient care activities and essential unit operations. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, this position assists with activities of daily living, basic clinical tasks, and general upkeep of the nursing unit. This entry-level role may support areas including Inpatient Post-Surgical, Pre-Op/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and the Operating Room.Essential Job Functions/AccountabilitiesAssist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, showering, grooming, toileting, mobility, and meal-related needs.Supports patient meals by helping with menu completion, ensuring tray delivery, preparing the environment, assisting with feeding as needed, and documenting intake, output, calorie counts, vital signs, and Foley output. Notify the RN if a meal tray is missing.Collects meal trays, prepares and delivers nourishments, provides water and ice, and maintains between-meal dietary needs. Manages stock food items, cleans and maintains patient refrigerators, and updates refrigerator temperature logs.Identifies and reports unusual occurrences, abnormal findings, and patient concerns to the RN in a timely manner.Distributes clean linens, collects soiled linens, and stocks linen cupboards and hall carts. Reports maintenance issues requiring repair or replacement. Makes beds and performs light housekeeping duties as needed.Assists with patient transfers, mobility, and discharges, including removing equipment from patient rooms post-discharge. Escorts patients to pre-op or testing areas with proper identification. Obtains patient vital signs and promotes positive patient interactions.Disinfects patient beds, chairs, equipment, and care areas after use. Stocks Pre-Op and Pre-Testing supplies, restocks bedside items, and maintains the blanket warmer. Replaces sharps containers when full and communicates laundry concerns to the Pre-Op/PACU manager. Retrieves supplies from the stockroom as requested.Performs routine errands such as transporting specimens, documents, or equipment. Provides additional patient care support duties as assigned and adjusts to changing needs as directed by the RN.Transports patients throughout the hospital, including assisting with transfers between beds and wheelchairs.Supports other caregivers as needed under RN supervision. Assists the unit secretary and answers phones to promote smooth team operations.All other duties not specifically assigned.Position RequirementsEducation: Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and/or seeking an associate's or bachelor's degree of nursing.Experience: Previous patient care or customer service experience preferred but not mandatory.Technical Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic mathematical skills required to accurately record intake/output, vital signs, and other patient data. Basic computer literacy preferred (e.g., ability to enter data into electronic health records).Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: BLS required within 3 months of hire.Schedule: Minimum 24 hours per monthStatus: Per Diem (PRN) Variable
